System Architect 2000-2009

Managed the projects and lead multiple development teams for the development and delivery of technical solutions through the establishment of system designs and determination of testable requirements. Verified exchanged file formats and order control descriptors. Designed and executed experiments to determine performance characteristics. Other activities include:

* Collaborated with team that developed on-line ordering systems, involving PC-based applications, web servers, business-to-business networking with fulfillers, and e-commerce.

* Developed data definitions, semantics, best practice encodings, and interchange requirements for meta-data. Involved file formats, XML Schemas, XML namespaces (XMP, RDF, MPV, DIG35), Dublin Core elements, and file system attributes to support technical standards development and Metadata systems.

* Developed architect for automated image-enabled system that leverages metadata for story composition and rendering. (US Patent App: 11/958944).

* Led technical group that developed the Common Picture eXchange Environment (CPXe), a system that collaborates web services for internet-based fulfillment.

* Represented the company as team lead for developing Everplay Standard, now managed by Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA).

* Led technical group that developed USB Still Image Capture Device specification. Co-developed ISO15740 Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) standard for the International Imaging Industry Association (I3A). These two specifications define the protocol used to upload images to a PC from a digital camera. Awarded the 2005 Eastman Innovation Award for this achievement. These standards are supported by digital still cameras from almost all vendors worldwide.

Senior Engineer -- Advanced Development 1992-2000

Selected to lead and support multiple technical teams across the company including:

* Image Science Division involved in the development of metadata systems and contract with an open source vendor to develop an advanced C++ compiler for Linux based systems.

* DVD Recorder Development responsible for the Copy Protection Technical Working Group of the DVD Forum and developed strategies for detecting playback sessions for read-only DVD's.

* Government Systems involved with document scanning systems that digitized forms with hand written text, employing optical character recognition and optical storage libraries to store the acquired information. These systems were developed in response to IRS and FAA proposals. Managed project requirements, storage system architecture, and performance simulations.

* Lead Engineer designed storage systems that included digital helical scan tape drives, RAID storage, optical storage devices with recordable CDs, large format optical media and automated storage libraries.

* Designed interface and managed contract for a real-time error correction subsystem and contract for a real-time Huffman compression subsystem for disk optical disk controllers.
