Responsible for evaluating, procuring, and implementing College server hardware infrastructure.
Works with vendors to secure bids on large scale IT hardware projects. Have experience working with
researchers and know how to work around technological hurdles to get problems solved. Knows how
to implement modular, enterprise level solutions from years of experience learning the right and the
wrong approaches to finding answers. Works with other full-time College IT staff in supporting
approximately 13,000 faculty, staff, and students in 17 buildings across multiple campuses.
Highlights:

• Evaluated, purchased, configured from scratch and administrated EMC Clariion CX700 SAN with
over 9 TB storage over a 2 GB/s switched fiber network, 16kVA UPS system, 18 servers in a boot
from SAN configuration, IPSEC and SSL VPN solutions for College IT infrastructure.
• SAN management experience with EMC, Xiotech, Hitachi, McData, Gadzooxs, Qlogic products
• Migrated College ethernet network topology to a fully switched environment with DDNS in 2006
which increased performance and redundancy while simplifying node management.
• Working experience with a wide range of OS's -- FreeBSD, Debian, OS X Server, WinXP/2003,
SLES, Mklinux, Redhat, YellowDog, NetWare and how to tie them to enterprise resources.
• Experience working with virtualization software VMWare and Parallels going back to 1999.
• Worked with Legato, Bacula, and Amanda performing *nix backups. (including OS X)
• Experience running NESSUS/ MRTG for network activity and security reporting.
• Primary support for the configuration and troubleshooting of all portable devices, network
protocols, and wireless communication for the College.
• Responsible for the College Mac desktop OS distribution testing and deployment as well as
application and patch management for all Macs.
• Tested and implemented centralized Active Directory logins and management for all College OS X
machines.
• Installed and ran 4 OS X servers providing directory, web, file, VPN, SSH, PostgreSQL, MySQL,
system monitoring, and paging services.
• Installed and administered several FreeBSD servers (attached to a Compaq branded Hitachi XP512
SAN) providing file service via Samba through Active Directory authentication.
• Setup a Nagios server, with centralized directory authentication, to monitor all College monitored
servers and specific services. Provides for email and pager notifications in addition to web based,
configurable statistical reports.
• Administered several Apache SSL servers configured for centralized LDAP directory
authentication.
• Completed EMC training courses: Implementing Data Protection on EMC Storage, Implementing
EMC Enterprise Storage Solutions. Completed Apple Training courses: OS X Admin Basics, OS X
Network Administration.
• Responsible for departmental and College inventory duties related to surplus hardware,
departmental inventory transfers, and parts.
• Worked as primary support liason for the Mac-centric North Texas Daily (UNT Newspaper) and
managed their IT needs.

Tier Three ISP Support Technician - Volt ATS, Los Colinas, Tx
On site at GTE's Intelligent Network Services in Los Colinas providing primarily internal telephone
and email support related to network status and equipment troubleshooting. Duties included testing
various ISDN routers, adapters, and modems in addition to internet related services such as DHCP,
DNS, and PPP. This was a contract position to perform duties during the conversion from GTE to
Verizon. Worked daily with multiple operating systems and networking including DOS, Windows
3.x/95/98/NT, UNIX, Linux, and all versions of the Mac OS

Tier Two Technical Support Representative -- Stream International, Carollton, TX
Provided High-end tech support for Apple Computers Inc.,Macintosh OS platforms (System 7.1-8.6).
Hardware support included internal computer component troubleshooting, monitors, laser/inkjet
printers, scanners, network hardware such as Apple branded AppleTalk components. Administered
internal web and file services for tier one staff. Handled tier one support needs via phone, email, and in
person. Was trained by Apple staff in networking, printing, Power Computing, and peripheral
hardware/software support. Limited exposure to BeOS and UMAX product support issues.
