Localization Manager
Responsible for the localization in 11 languages of phone voice prompts, User Interface programs and user documentation (manuals, online Help), encompassing all phases of planning, creation, production and management.
Worked closely with Product Line Managers, Software Developers and Quality Assurance Engineering in all phases of release cycles.

Oct. 03 -- Dec. 04 Consultant to Software firms needing Italian language localization, documentation, and testing expertise.

Jan. 03 --Sept. 03 Scansoft, Inc. A $110M organization, leading supplier of imaging, speech and language solutions that are used to automate a wide range of manual processes.
QA Engineer -- Contract
Responsible for testing Version 7.0 Italian of Dragon Systems NaturallySpeaking, a vocal recognition software program that permits users to dictate to a computer in a vast number of programs.

Jan. 02 -- Oct. 02 Macromedia, Inc. A $325M organization, Macromedia, Inc. develops, markets and delivers software for digital media creation and delivery for Windows, Macintosh, and the Internet.
Production of localized documentation -- Contract
Responsible for French, German, Japanese, and Korean production of Jrun and ColdFusion online documentation and help, from vendor delivery of translated documentation through hand-off to manufacturing.


Mar. 00 -- Aug. 01 Avid Technology A $420M organization, developer of wide range of software and systems for creating and manipulating digital media content, including video, audio and graphics.
Localization Coordinator
Responsible for European-market products (FIGS), including user interfaces and all online documentation and help, from project conception through hand-off to manufacturing. Primary support for Asian languages (Japanese and Chinese).
Worked closely with product management, development, documentation and release engineering groups to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality localized products.
Managed baseline budget of $1.1M. Solicited bids and negotiated prices and schedules, obtained favorable pricing and ensured that deadlines were met. Established and communicated milestones and project requirements. Managed and packaged all instructions, builds and file hand-offs.
Extracted and merged UI files using in-house tools. Performed extensive testing and troubleshooting of localized interfaces. Created I18N bug database in ClearQuest.
Built online documentation and help for integrated CD-ROM for both NT and Mac platforms, using Frame, WebWorks, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe family of PDF/PS applications.

1991 - May 1999 Interleaf, Inc. Provider of enterprisewide software solutions for contentmanagement and highend publishing.
QA Engineer (Feb. 98 to May 99)
Responsible for testing a number of subsystems of Interleaf 7, a complex publishing product. Improved and documented testing procedures. Tested software using sophisticated defecttracking tools. Actively contributed to product design and performed problemsolving for customer support organization. Solely responsible for testing HTMLbased user tutorial (including Java applets) on several browsers.
International Documentation Project Supervisor (May 91 -- Jan. 98)
Managed the delivery of localized (translated) online and printed documentation for desktop publishing and document management software products. Responsible for large projects spanning many languages, media, and products. Worked closely with development, release, and quality assurance engineers, writers, editors, and overseas training and marketing groups. Screened, hired, trained, and supervised translators and editors. Within Interleaf, acted as a consultant for localization issues in user interface and documentation design.
Worked closely with overseas subsidiaries, freelance translators/editors, and agencies in both Europe and Japan. Managed a baseline budget of over $ 400,000.
Organized and maintained financial records of translation costs by project, language, and provider (over 30 vendors). Provided quarterly summaries and amended forecasts. Assisted in forecasting translation costs for future products.

Participated in planning of project workflow and production strategy. Prepared final copy for reproduction of new and revised documentation in printed and online form. Technical Publication Supervisor
Supervised a technical staff of eight in the creation and production of proposals, product descriptions, operation and service manuals, company newsletters, stationery, and forms.
Managed a baseline budget of $ 250,000; hired, trained, and supervised staff; purchased supplies and equipment; contracted and coordinated technical services from outside vendors.
Provided total photographic services to support corporate sales and marketing programs. Produced brochures, collateral materials, and audiovisual presentations for trade shows and marketing displays.
