Projects Accomplished

• Upgraded Oracle binaries and production database from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3 and apply one-off patch to the 10.2.0.3 database to fix bug #5654680 (Patch # 5725109).
• Determined possible backup and recovery strategies that would be applicable for 24x7 situations protecting data loss, using scripts for cold and hot backup and data pump utility for logical backup.
• Implemented hot standby database (Data Guard) for production database. Setup and successfully performed active failover in the event of production failure.
• Determine possible backup, restoration and recovery strategy using RMAN (level 0 and level 1 backup) and incremental updated backup.
• Utilized Oracle 10g Flashback Features to ensure 5 day retention time for any object that is removed from the production database.
• Performed recovery from missing or corrupted data files, redo log group, control files and recovery from block corruption (dbverify).
• Migrated customer v8.1.7 database. Performed pre-migration analysis needed to successfully port customer's binary dump file into version 10.2.0.3 database.
• Monitored production database using automatic workload repository (AWR) and automatic database diagnostic monitor (ADDM).
• Performed configuration of custom database layout structure such as relocating the user
• production database, moving non-system and system data files, relocating the archive, control and redo log files, and relocating tables and indexes to appropriately sized (extent sizes) tablespaces (data reorganization for performance).
• Conducted physical and logical performance analysis of production database with new physical and logical layout structures in place.
• Determined the current security posture of the database using Oracle security best practices and implement security best practices IAW established methodologies
• Performed user password analysis to possibly identify weak user passwords in the database, corrected them as needed.
