Technical Skills Description • Administrating Database in WIN 2000/XP, UNIX & Linux platforms. • Manage and support Production, 9i, 10g. • Creating the Oracle Instance/Database using customized scripts, conforming to Oracle's Optimal Flexible Architecture (OFA). • Administration and managing the Oracle Instance using custom scripts and 10g Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) database control. • Managing tablespaces, datafiles, redo logs, tables and its segments. • Maintaining data integrity also managing profiles, resources and password security. • Managing Users, Privileges and Roles. • Administering Oracle 10g networking such as listener.ora and tnsnames.ora. • Performing Installation and Configuration of Oracle's Enterprise Manager 10g Control utility, using Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) or manually by running scripts. • Initiate and interpret user and system session traces using TKPROF. • Usage of performance views, usage of performance utilities (utlb/estat, Automatic Workload Repository and Statspak). • Perform interrogation of system events, wait states, lock and latch activities and take corrective action based on analysis of these activities. • Setting up and using Oracle's optimizer such as AUTOTRACE facility, Oracle's cost based SQL optimizer (CBO) and using hints to change execution plans. • Perform database cloning and re-location activities. • Implement and perform activities utilizing transportable tablespaces. • Setup and configuration of automatically shared memory management (ASMN). • Using Flashback Query (FBQ) and Automatic Undo Management as part of backup strategy. • Performing Oracle 10g Data Pump Import and export utility. • Performing backup and recovery using Oracle 10g's user managed backup such as automated or manual cold backup and hot backup procedures. • Create, configure and utilize Recovery manager catalog (RC). • Performing periodical Backup and Restoration and recovery using RMAN (full & incremental) and RMAN incrementally updated backups. • Upgrading the Database from lower version to higher version. • Installation Patch and fix bugs. • Utilize, managing and monitoring hot standby database using (Data Guard) as well as monitoring primary database. • Write and execute SQL statement against database and its objects. • Write and execute PL/SQL code such as procedure, function, package or trigger as well as working with pre-defined Oracle package to administrate database. • Creating Oracle forms and reports. Projects Accomplished
• Upgraded Oracle binaries and production database from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3 and apply one-off patch to the 10.2.0.3 database to fix bug #5654680 (Patch # 5725109). • Determined possible backup and recovery strategies that would be applicable for 24x7 situations protecting data loss, using scripts for cold and hot backup and data pump utility for logical backup. • Implemented hot standby database (Data Guard) for production database. Setup and successfully performed active failover in the event of production failure. • Determine possible backup, restoration and recovery strategy using RMAN (level 0 and level 1 backup) and incremental updated backup. • Utilized Oracle 10g Flashback Features to ensure 5 day retention time for any object that is removed from the production database. • Performed recovery from missing or corrupted data files, redo log group, control files and recovery from block corruption (dbverify). • Migrated customer v8.1.7 database. Performed pre-migration analysis needed to successfully port customer's binary dump file into version 10.2.0.3 database. • Monitored production database using automatic workload repository (AWR) and automatic database diagnostic monitor (ADDM). • Performed configuration of custom database layout structure such as relocating the user • production database, moving non-system and system data files, relocating the archive, control and redo log files, and relocating tables and indexes to appropriately sized (extent sizes) tablespaces (data reorganization for performance). • Conducted physical and logical performance analysis of production database with new physical and logical layout structures in place. • Determined the current security posture of the database using Oracle security best practices and implement security best practices IAW established methodologies • Performed user password analysis to possibly identify weak user passwords in the database, corrected them as needed.
Employment History
• COGNOS (Contract Position) Burlington, MA 9/06 -- 11/06 Managed and imported the collected data from potential cognos customers into the database.
