College Projects:
Design and Build Project:

Second year group project was to develop an RSS Feed in real time that extracts the data between the XML tags then displays the data on the LCD display unit. In this project I created the web interface that interacts with the LCD to display the text. In addition the code to extract the text between the XML tags was created by me. For this project we also came up with a business plan were everyone helped. The business plan was looking at forecasts, marketing, the four P's and a feasibility study of our product.

Programming languages used were: HTML, JAVA, JAVASCRIPT and XML that extracts the text from the XML file and displays it on the LCD display unit.

Software Project:

Using (UML Uniformed Modelling Language) developed web based software for a tourist agency using rational rose. The entire project went through the system analysis life cycle looking at what the requirements was for the tourist company, the different parts needed and how the entire system would interact with each other. Through this we developed a web based application that let the user make holiday selections and bookings. In this project my role was to support the interaction with other members by connecting codes and various applications to the web site. I was responsible for creating the web site and the graphical design.

Languages used in the development of the software were: HTML, JAVASCRIPT, Microsoft Access and JAVA.

Final Year Project:

Research project looking at the effect of 802.11 on VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) that aimed to find out whether 802.11 could handle the demand for VoIP. The interesting aspect about this project was to simulate 802.11 networks that sent VoIP traffic using Pareto On and Off distribution and then analyzing the results. In order to effectively find the effect different scenarios was implemented each with different functionality, starting with a simple 802.11 network with one VoIP traffic and then building up the number of VoIP traffics and increasing the complexity of the networks. Not only was the number of VoIP traffic sources looked at but also the call duration for each one in milliseconds, but what happens when other applications is used at the same time.

For this project a milestone plan was implemented by me in order to meet deadlines and for overall project management. In this project Linux operating system was used, using the terminals to run the tests. Also the use of NS-2, Network Simulator 2 that created the graphical drawings of the simulation and lastly TCL Tool Command Language was used that enabled me to modify and create scripts.
