Developed C++ test cases for new feature capability. Performed manual testing procedures and then automated them for cycle time reduction. Wrote TCL test scripts to verify SNMP communication between McDATA hardware and managing software.
Storage Technology Corporation, 10/83-3/00 9/98-3/00: Enterprise Virtual Tape, Advisory Software Engineer Developed the first version of the Integration Test Plan for unit test, functional test and system test of an Open-systems storage product written in Java. Developed a unit test procedure and served as team leader for unit test implementation with test cases written in Java. Modified source code to fix problems found in unit testing. Using Perl, developed a code coverage and regression test script for the project. Provided leadership concerning functional and system testing.
10/97-8/98: Enterprise Virtual Tape, Senior Software Engineer Developed an ESCON test running on a Storage Tek emulator to simulate a 3490e tape drive for microcode simulation and product test. Analyzed SCSI traces from a DLT 7000 using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Provided a knowledge base of tape drive functionality.
5/93-10/97: Large Tape Advanced Manufacturing, Senior Software Engineer Lead engineer for the development of an Emulated Systems Test, including test cases and the completion of the test driver, which lead to the removal of the IBM CPU test on the product. Lead engineer for developing a tape cartridge certification tool. Developed and maintained a procedure for the Emulated System Test, including ISO 9000 compliance certification.
4/91-5/93: Iceberg Subsystem Diagnostics Team, Staff Software Engineer Design, code in “C” language and unit test the Shared Memory Range Lock, Bus Lock, Check 1 Diagnostics, and Check 0 Mini Diagnostics. Assist multiple channel integrations with StorageTek Channel Emulator test cases and off shift testing work.
10/88-4/91: Disk EVT Group, Staff Software Engineer Lead engineer for design and implementation of FIPS channel emulator software tools and test cases. Developed the QP14 SAT test plan, evaluated the IBM 3990 disk control unit for engineering questions, performed the Head Recovery EVT, developed the Iceberg SIT and SAT test plans, provided technical support and leadership for the Iceberg EVT group, assisted with the development of the StorageTek Channel emulator in the AME Disk group, developed a strategy to generate ECAM test cases using the ZEUS test tool, and developed a method to emulate channel access to the Iceberg Control Unit.
3/88-10/88: Control Unit EVT Group, Staff Software Engineer Performed regression testing on 8890 Mod-3 code changes using MVS-SP ISAM, VSAM, BSAM, QSAM, and other access method test cases.
8/87-3/88: Disk EVT Group, Staff Software Engineer Designed, coded, and validated test cases that were part of the EVT phase for the DATA Forking/Partial Track Staging enhancement project of the 8890 disk Controller. Developed the basic EVT plan for the project.
6/84-8/87: 4480 Control Unit Development, Development Software Engineer Developed SIT and SAT test plans for the 4480 Tape Control Unit project. Evaluated the IBM 3480 per questions from the engineer group. Architect portions of the 4480 micro-code. Designed and implemented a test tool using POST running FRIEND to execute test cases defined in the plans. Developed and executed test cases using the PACE Channel Emulator. Developed a CRC generation tool for building 4480 code loads using IBM 370 Assembly language.
10/83-6/84: 8890 Disk Control Unit Development, Development Software Engineer Developed and executed SIT and SAT test cases for the verification of the 8890 Disk Control unit under development.
