Client Royal Bank of Scotland
Duration April 2007 to November 2007
Project Description --
A group wide review under the banner Sarbanes Oxley Controls Risk Review (CRR) has been instigated to identify possible areas of exposure, and to identify gaps and weaknesses in key control processes, which could expose the Group to financial loss and/or fraudulent activity. One specific area to be highlighted in the CRR is Back Office access. It has been recognized that the system does not offer a satisfactory level of access granularity, resulting in staff having the ability to perform a wide range of activities without adequate monitoring. To compound this, there is a lack of detective controls in place to identify and investigate activity.
The Detective Controls project has been initiated to develop a reporting system that would enable high risk transactions to be flagged and investigated accordingly. The primary aim being to reduce the following issues: Ineffective Reporting - reports showing critical transactions / static data changes are incomplete, very difficult to review, or not available
