Developer of interactive learning programs and presentations since 1986. Working as a self employed sub-contractor since 1992 assisting clients with technical abilities ranging from novice to expert. Specializing in incorporating animation, sound, video, and database functions to create dynamic experiences enhanced for each individual.

WORK HIGHLIGHTS
Gemini Observatory Virtual Tour Apr. 2001 -- present Programming/Technical Design/CD Mastering Direct Contract
• Multi-lingual - runs in English or Spanish (currently adding French). • Runs on a dedicated computer as a kiosk or on a CD-ROM to be given out. • Compatible with Windows 95 thru XP, Mac Classic and OSX operating systems. • News section updates itself via the Internet. • Simulated observation section allows users to adjust colors and print out or save their findings. • Kiosk tracks the frequency of section usage. • CD-ROM contains a screensaver builder and a self- install/uninstall function. • Windows/Mac translation application keeps track of version changes in the multi-lingual environment. As new features are added, only new text needing translation is sent to each translator. Translations are returned in a format that can automatically update the tour.

'Imiloa - Astronomy Center of Hawaii Feb. 2005 -- Feb. 2006 Programming/Exhibit Installation Contract via In Visible Media, Inc.
• Touch-screen exhibits explaining topics such as the speed of light, the history of an atom, early Hawaiian navigational methods, and the jobs of people working at an observatory. • Multi-lingual -- exhibits run in Hawaiian or English. • Extensive use of digitized video. • One exhibit responds to visitor's answers to suggest possible career opportunities. • Represented Canada based In Visible Media, Inc. on-site for hardware installation and troubleshooting.
Sound Reading Solutions Mar. 2001 -- present Programming/Product Development/Support Direct Contract
• Originally a CD-ROM based product to teach elementary grade students to read using phoneme (sound based) approach. • Designed to expand to full-screen for any size monitor. • Code based registration allows the same CD for any number of students. • Student scores recorded, student to continue each session from where they left off. • Incorporates encryption for student records. • Prints reports for individual and group progress. • Expanded to target kindergarden, teen, and ESL markets. • Expanded to a network server based version for larger installations. • Network version supports multi-level administration passwords giving teachers adminstrative control of their own students. • Network version includes a fully illustrated 41-page instruction administrator's manual in Adobe Acrobat format. • Ongoing telephone technical support representing Sound Reading Solutions.
Muskoka Lakes Museum Feb. 2006 -- Apr. 2006 Programming/Technical Design Contract via In Visible Media, Inc.
• Six touch screen kiosks of different theames, optimized to run on low-cost “mini-mac” Apple computers. • One kiosk uses a digital camera to take three pictures of the museum visitor. The visitor chooses one and an antique postcard background to create a personalized digital postcard that they can add a message to and email to friends and family. • Digitized video used to exhibit interviews of historical personage. • Designed to allow In Visible Media, Inc. to update with simple file replacement.
NSF -- Self Updating Presentation Dec. 2002 -- Feb. 2003 Programming/Technical Support Contract via Gemini Observatory
• Presentation of photographs and captions located in the lobbys of the National Science Foundation (Washington, DC) and Gemini Observatory (Hilo, HI). • Checks nightly to see if an update is available via the Internet. When needed, automatically downloads the update and installs it. • Multi-lingual, currently in Spanish and English. Design allows for any number of languages.
Hawaiian Language Reading Program Feb. 2000 -- Jul. 2001 Programming/Development/CD Mastering Direct Contract
• CD-ROM developed for 'Aha Punana Leo (Hawaiian language emersion preschool.) • Contains 12 exercises to introduce students to the syllable based approach of learning to read that is traditional to the Hawaiian culture. • Each exercise silently adjusts its difficulty based on how well a student performs. When a student gets enough correct answers in a row, it advances to a more difficult version of the lesson, then on the next lesson. • CD allows the teacher to choose which lessons will run on any given session. • Lessons include: matching pictures to the sounds they start with; combining sounds to make words; a typing game; and books that highlight as they read aloud. • The entire CD is narrated in the Hawaiian language. • Cross platform -- compatible with all Windows95 thru XP and Mac Classic (project preceded OSX.)
