STARBUCKS CORPORATION: (2006 Till Date)
Leading retailer, roaster and brand of specialty coffee in the world.

Project:

The GBSS (Global Business System Solution) will help Starbucks to improve the way they do business all around the world. Currently Starbucks IT Systems serve Starbucks as independent systems, GBSS will unite all these systems to create a single system that will be scalable to future Starbucks expansion around the world. The Inventory Management System of GBSS will reduce the manual processes undertaken by Starbucks partners, will help partners to focus more on serving the customers, and less on the systems.








Roles and Responsibilities:



• Served as an onsite coordinator for a 20 member offshore team, communicated requirements from client to the team.

• Developed end-to-end solution architecture for using Oracle BI publisher and I series for reporting.

• Developed end - to end solution for maintaining store time zones, this involved communicating with a third party vendor "World Time Engine" which provided the latest time zone codes, and interfacing these time zone codes into Starbucks JDA MMS system. This turned out to be an interesting and challenging solution, given that the time zone flip rules in U.S are not really uniform and have a lot of exceptions.

• Designed and developed Key Performance Indicator reports used by Starbucks store partners using RPGLE and Oracle BI publisher. These reports provided various important store metrics to partners to help them improve store productivity.

• Wrote shell scripts for HP UX UNIX operating system, to automate the reporting process using BI publisher.

• Served as Test Lead for testing the new Inventory management systems application.

• Was responsible for maintaining the integrity of the i series, test environment, this involved weekly data refreshes and backups.

• Was primarily responsible for version control in the project, this involved version control management for over 500+ objects, using SVN and MKS Implementer.

• Developed numerous Inventory Management Reports using BCD Websmart and trained and 6 resources to bring them up to speed on using Websmart.

• Awarded the “GBSS Rice” award for helping Starbucks successfully setup their Inventory Management System Setup.






















SYSCO FOODS (2006)

Project:

The operating structure of SYSCO's Central Warehouse was changed, to incorporate the Regional Office -- Distribution Center hierarchy model. Regional Office catered to AR, AP and the Distribution Center catered to supply and Order Processing.


Roles and Responsibilities:

• Enabled Order Processing functionalities at Central Warehouse DC's , AP functionalities at Central Warehouse RO's.

• Scrapped off the existing order allocation system for Central Warehouse and created new order allocation batch programs.

• Trained and lead a 4 member team for end to end testing of the functionalities.

• Lead a 5 member team in creating a “subfile generator tool” which helped automate subfile creations.
• Involved in creating code standards document for SYSCO, and created a standards check tool in RPGLE.

• Involved in quality processes, used Quality Center to log defects, created productivity tools like FTP tool , which FTP objects and sources across 2 different I series boxes, and Unused Variables Tool, to capture all unused variables across source code.
• Awarded “ On the Spot” cash award for being a major player in improving quality processes.





























SYGMA Network, Inc (2005 -- 2006)

SYGMA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sysco Corporation, is a nationwide network of foodservice distribution facilities specializing in distribution to chain restaurants.

This development project is to study and fit SYGMA's Business Processes and corresponding Functional Requirements into Sysco Uniform System. This involves Pricing, Financials, Inventory management, Warehouse management, Reporting etc. The whole system was developed in AS400.



Roles and Responsibilities:

• Converted legacy Infinium programs to Fixed Format RPG and RPGLE.

• Acted as offshore coordinator, understood the requirements from the onsite team and translated requirements into desired results.

• Was part of a 3 member team responsible for implementing “Automatic Clearance House” for SYGMA. Developed numerous subfile screens to cater to this functionality.

• Customized SYGMAs Order Processing system to fit SYSCO's system, this involved changes to existing code and thorough end to end testing.

• Developed numerous interface programs between various AS400 Systems used by SYSCO and SYGMA.

• Developed AS400 Reports using Printer Files.

• Awarded “ On the Spot” cash award for being proactive and taking ownership of the project.

Resource Availability Tool:
This tool gave visibility to managers on the current bench strength in Infosys and the skill sets of the bench talent pool. Tool helped managers in efficiently utilitizing the bench talent pool. This was a one-person team, was involved right from concept to completion.
This tool was created completely on C#.net.

Reinfo: Retail information” was a newsletter that was created to be circulated within Infosys. The purpose of this news letter was to educate Infoscions on the emerging Retail Industry, this newsletter was created using JavaScript, CSS and Microsoft Outlook. Was awarded the “best domain initiative” at Infosys for this newsletter.
