Westinghouse Energy Systems Business Unit 1980 - 2006 Energy Center, Monroeville Pennsylvania Nuclear Engineering Aide A -- Safety Analysis Engineering -- Loss Of Coolant Accident Integrated Services 2000 - 2006 Performed Reload Safety Analysis Current Limit data reduction and wrote numerous calculation notes, software verification procedures, and letters. Reviewed small break Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) analyses, large break LOCA analyses, best estimate LOCA analyses to determine fuel types, power levels, fuel clad types, steam generator plugging levels, oxidation levels, and numerous other variables as required. Performed software verification for in-house programs WCOBRATRAC, SPADES, and numerous other software programs which met all in house quality assurance and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements. Performed small break LOCA analyses for various nuclear power plants using in house programs SBLOCTA and SPADES on UNIX engineering workstations. Nuclear Engineering Aide A -- AP600- Testing and Qualification 1996 - 2000 Performed duties listed below under Nuclear Engineering Aide B and C Design and Maintain a Microsoft Access database known as Open Item Tracking System (OITS) which answered questions from the NRC. Wrote numerous letters to customers with status updates of the OITS system. Input data into the database and generate new automated reports for users. Automated features and fields as needed. Use Standard Query Language (SQL) to generate the reports.
Nuclear Engineering Aide B -- AP600- Testing and Qualification 1995 - 1996 Performed duties listed below under Nuclear Engineering Aide C Train approximately 75 to 100 employees on the use of Nuclear Safety Analysis Plotting Program (NSAPLOT) by conducting training classes. Wrote “How-To” manuals for NSAPLOT, personal computer and UNIX workstations. Train employees on how to use the FORTRAN program I wrote to reduce test data. Train employees on how to transfer data between the UNIX and personal computer networks.
Nuclear Engineering Aide C -- AP600- Testing and Qualification 1994 - 1995 Performed data reduction on data obtained from test facilities, (Oregon State University, Penn State University, and in Italy the SPES facility), that had scale models of the AP600 plant. The data included measurements of pressure, temperature, volume, and liquid levels. Data was transmitted in either a VAX computer system format or tab delimited Microsoft EXCEL files. Reduction of data was performed using a FORTRAN program that I wrote and reformatted for input into NSAPLOT. NSAPLOT was used to modify the data to obtain void fractions and density correct levels based on temperature and pressure.
Westinghouse Nuclear Technology Division 1980 - 1994 Energy Center, Monroeville Pennsylvania, N--Reactor, Richland Washington, Byron Nuclear Power Plant, Byron Illinois Mechanical Engineering Aide A, B and C and Computer Operator and User Coordinator Modeled and analyzed reactor coolant loop (RCL) ASME Class 1, 2, 3 and Non-nuclear safety (NNS) piping systems for deadweight, thermal, seismic, LOCA, and hydraulic loadings using in-house modeling and stress analysis programs. Performed software verification for in-house programs on UNIX, personal computers, mainframes, and Cray super computers. Wrote software verification procedures and functional descriptions. Answered user's questions, as a Computer Operator and User Coordinator, concerning use of personal computers, UNIX work stations, mainframe computers, Cray super computers, and mini computers. Performed all duties associated with being a Computer Operator in Byron Illinois and Richland Washington such as writing backup tapes, monitoring disk space, and general maintenance as needed.

Basketball Coordinator St. Joseph Grade School 2004 - 2007 I was the basketball coordinator at St. Joseph School in Coraopolis. My duties included scheduling all games for the six different teams that we had, boy's junior-junior varsity, boy's junior varsity, boy's varsity, girl's junior-junior varsity, girl's junior varsity, and girl's varsity. Since we did not have our own gym, we rent gym time; and I negotiated with local gyms in our area for gym time and rental rates. I also made sure that referees were present at all of our home games and made sure that they were paid. Additionally, I made sure that all of the coaches had their criminal and child abuse clearances. At the end of each month, I tallied the rental fees and composed letters with payment to the various organizations. I also handled parent phone calls when issues could not be resolved by coaches. The Basketball Coordinator duties have taught me to have good organizational skills. The most difficult part of the job was dealing with parental complaints. Dealing with parents, some of whom were extremely difficult to deal with, has helped me develop excellent people skills and has taught me to be diplomatic.
1994 George Westinghouse Signature Award Winner for providing timely data reduction, computer automation, and computer training to the AP600 Testing and Qualification group.
1997 Westinghouse Stock Option Award Winner for outstanding work performance.
