PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

EMC Corporation, Chicago, IL 2000 -- 2007

Program Manager
Managed multiple concurrent projects for key national clients, interfacing with senior executives at key client firms. Responsible for managing customer staff during engagements as well as mentoring new hire project managers. Full accountability for project budgets, revenue recognition, resource utilization, scope management and timeline compliance. Presales duties included creation of statements of work, level of effort estimating and client discussions to gather requirements for software, hardware and services to be deployed.

Sr. Project Manager
Responsible for managing multiple projects within the division geography. Duties included managing all planning for architecture, implementation, issue and risk management, test and acceptance, documentation and project closure. Timecard approval, resource allocation and facilitating all meetings were additional responsibilities.

Key Projects and Achievements:

• Led a diverse team implementing a multiple fabric SAN upgrade, Host Migration, Data Center Migration, Tiered Storage deployment, Backup to Disk initiative at a major insurance company. The project lifespan was nine months and included managing resources from the client, vendors and EMC staff and residents. This project had elements of both serial and parallel dependencies spanning various technologies. Accommodated tight customer timeline and managed scope effectively to generate additional revenue from the project.

• Successfully brought financial services client into critical compliance with SOX requirements by providing project management for a new tiered storage deployment with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuance elements. The solution included implementing new storage at three sites, host data migration to new storage, updating business recovery solution already in place and instituting a rolling disaster recovery solution between the three sites. Successfully managed link sizing issues, risk associated with regulatory compliance, along with changes in scope, dictated by technical issues. Project completed prior to deadline and within budget constraints.

• Directed a SAN migration for a major metropolitan government agency, from Brocade to Cisco directors for 61 hosts at the production data center. The implementation included architecting the production SAN environment, planning the host migrations and deploying initial disaster recovery procedures across the link between the production data center and the disaster recovery site. This project was managed to culmination despite issues and associated risk introduced by an outside vendor. This effort was completed on time with high customer satisfaction resulting in a follow-on project.

Responsible for non-exhaust product procurement for 1,800 retail outlets located in fifty states. Managed purchasing department, directing staff of five in sourcing products from global automotive suppliers in the US and overseas. Products included brake parts, shocks and struts, chassis parts, oil and lube, wipers, lighting and batteries. Skillfully negotiated supply agreements totaling $75 -- 100 million per year, reducing costs significantly, while maintaining inventory availability for customers.

Simultaneously designated PM and SME for implementation of JD Edwards ERP, spanning several years, throughout the manufacturing, accounting and distribution organizations. Obtained JD Edwards' certification in MRP, Forecasting, Shop Floor Control and Resource Management. Provided business process analysis and trained users in numerous departments.
