SPECIFIC WORK EXPERIENCES: SENIOR IV&V TEAM MEMBER Current Position Panacea Consulting/Department of Labor -- Washington, DC
As an initial member of a newly formed Independent Verification & Validation (IVV) team for the Department of Labor's Wage and Hours Division -- IT branch, tasked with helping the reorganization of the department and its processes. Creating and implementing the IV&V plan for full SDLC activities as well as ad hoc, in-progress implementation. Promoting the IV&V team across Labor employees and management as well as to all contractors as the organization refocuses on revamping its IT practices. Analyzes tasks, researches information, determines that best course of action for responses, and documents the entire process. As the most IV&V experienced member of the team, acts as IV&V subject matter expert and plan author.
Managed a team of contractors and SSA analysts in requirements definition and functional and system validation efforts of a high-profile, fraud detection project. Quickly organized and trained team members as well as external users to master and test this web-based application designed to both convert and replace legacy mainframe and paper-driven processes as well as integrate with a third party business partner. At the same time became the primary review person/Subject Matter Expert between test, analysis, and development for all requirements covering mainframe processes and screens, web processes and screens, as well as web services actions, external business partner systems, and Quality Control processes and systems. Ultimately became the primary architect of detailed system scenarios designed to outline the expected process flow, variations, and results, which provided analysts, testers, and developers one-stop guidelines for building requirements, code, and test cases. Test manager for a team tasked with the validation of the complete software and hardware upgrade of a government web & desktop application used to transfer information between private industry and government agencies. Acting as a hands-on manager determined schedules, resource usage, designed the test strategy and defect processes, determined release schedules & expectations, and interfaced with management to ensure delivery of an accurate reproduction of the current production system. Created all test related documentation to include MS Project Scheduler, test strategies & plans; data needs; and the test cases themselves. Self-taught to master the system from use-cases and business requirements and then trained additional personnel to use the system to improve testing. Also oversaw the research and investigation of utilizing automated test tools, both purchased and freeware, for future regression-testing efforts once the up-graded system entered production.
