Multi-thread programming in C++ and Java. * Proficiency in C++ (ANSI, Borland, Visual), Java (Applet, Servlet), Visual BASIC, Assembly languages. * Experience in SQL API (JDBC and RougeWave DBTools).
Engineering & Research Experiences:
October 2006 - Present, Software Development Manager, BigBand Networks * Provide technical leadership for offshore (China) software development, including knowledge transfer, technical training and supervision, software project management and architectural design for new feature support for Linux based carrier class software and embedded software for Broadband Access Server using Java, C, C++ and distributed computing technique.
July 2005 - October 2006, APAC Chief Technical Manager, BigBand Networks, Hong Kong * Lead a team to provide technical support for BigBand Networks CMTS and digital video product. Provide installation, system integration, system demo, training and trouble shooting for the systems. Extensive knowledge in TCP/IP, HFC networks and digital video (MPEG2, CAS).
July 2000 - July 2005, Principle Software Engineer, Broadband Access Systems (Later acquired by ADC Telecommunications and then by BigBand Networks) * Technical lead. Responsible for a Network Management system for Cuda12000 CMTS * Graphical Interface client implemented using Java Swing Client, with RMI as transport * Cisco compatible Command Line Interface (CLI) implemented using JavaCC. * Based on three-tier architecture, all clients shared common middle tier. * Designed element management server using JBOSS EJB to manage over 1 million cable modems. * Architected and implemented a carrier class Broadband Provision Server for access networks. The server runs on Linux platform with full redundancy. It provides DHCP, SNMP, DNS, TFTP, patented configuration file generation and many other services in using LDAP, MySQL databases. The server features a Java and WEB/Servlet based user interfaces and is capable of serving multi-million subscribers.
Dec 1998 - July 2000, Member of Technical Staff, Lucent Technologies, Holmdel, NJ, USA * Design and implement a web based application for an Inter-Domain (SONET/SDH, ATM/FR) Configuration Management system (IDM-CM). The project uses distributed object technique (Orbix and OrbixWeb) with C++ Corba server communicates with Java Applet using IIOP communication. * Take part in the effort in defining a standard Broadband Corba IDL interface for Inter-domain configuration management.
1996-1998, Member of Scientific Staff, Nortel, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada * Remote Process Communication (RPC) Client -Sever application development with Graphic User Interface for the management of broadband communication network in UNIX environment. * Worked for Integrated Network Management (INM) system. Design and implement a Corba Managed Object Agent (MOA) acting as server for distributed objects to provide Fault Management, Resource Management, Connection Management and Performance Management for broadband networks (SONET/SDH, ATM, IP).
1995-1996, Research Assistant, Telecommunication Research Laboratories (TRLabs), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada * Worked on an adaptive traffic control system for a wireless ATM LAN by employing neural network technique. * Developed a SNMP based management system for ATM network using Java. * Wrote a research proposal for the performance evaluation of Resource Reservation Protocols (RSVP) in an ATM environment for TRLabs.
1992-1995, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, UK * Built a Windows GUI for an electrical measurement system using C++ to incorporate an analytical computer program. The work involves digital signal processing and Fast Fourier transform techniques. * Built a computer-controlled system to measure charge distribution in solid insulation using electro-acoustic wave. * Awarded several research funding from both government and industrial sponsors.24 Papers have been written since 1991.
