System Administrator -- Maintain windows 2003 servers, MySQL database, barcode scanners, XP clients, arcserve backup, setup WSUS (windows server update service), disk quotas, Active Directory group policies, exchange migration from pop mail, build PCs, plan server upgrades, setup assest management server, snmp server monitoring.

8/05 -- 6/06. Terphane Inc. Bloomfield NY. System Administrator.
· Plan, budget and purchase new workstations, software and hardware.
· Install, upgrade and maintain windows 2000 and XP workstations, NT4, 2000 and 2003 servers. Migrate applications and file/print from NT4 domain to active directory.
· Plan, purchase and install new backup infrastructure -- Arcserve 11.5, SCSI tape drive. Daily operation of backups and restores.
· Implement transition to new EMS system. Write VBscripts to install progress database client and ems application.
· Symbol barcode scanner operational workaround during software transition.

· Evaluated, recommended, installed and supported new software and hardware solutions. Presented plans and budgets for new infrastructure to managers, then deployed solutions.
· Maintained 10 workstations and 13 servers. Kept 6 year old computers working with scrounged obsolete spare parts.
· Installed, upgraded and patched Server operating systems. windows 2000, NT, Mandrake linux 8 and 9.
· Designed and implemented disaster recovery and anti virus solution. Veritas backup exec 8 and Computer Associates eTrust. Scripted backups of Oracle database and scheduled with cron. Archive backups to DVD.
· Selected, purchased and installed new router at remote co-location site and reconfigured to save cost of additional T1 to office by using Internet connection at our ISP with a dedicated line to office. reconfigured domain registrars with new DNS address.
· Monitored servers with Big Brother to automatically email and page me after hours. Installed Big Brother on new servers as required.
· Posted news, video clips and job postings on company web site with HTML editors and MySQL database. Managed domain names with several providers.
· Migrated from outlook email to mozilla thunderbird to reduce spam and Microsoft dependency. Managed spamassasin on mail server.
· Designed staffing and recruiting database in MS access. Tracked job applicants and their skills, and open positions.
· ACT! Contact management -- customized reports, recovered from database corruptions, imported/exported data to/from other applications.
· Implemented customer email list program to notify customers of new products and other announcements.
