SUMMARY
Senior level Applications Engineer experienced in software and hardware design, system testing, and problem solving for a variety of product environments. Successful in team initiatives and eager to learn and apply current advances in technology. Strong experience in business interaction with South American customers.
* Fluent in Spanish and German and very knowledgeable of cultural protocols for social and business dealings
* USA citizen.

CAREER OBJECTIVE
A position with the opportunity that best utilizes and further develops my ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING DESIGN AND HARDWARE/SOFTWARE TEST capabilities with an eventual supervisory position.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Pubic Schools High School Teacher - 2003 - 2007
Certified High School Math Teacher with endorsment in Physics and Chemistry.
A+ Certification Program Instructor.
Taught students with little or no background Algebra I and Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry.
* Created a curriculum from scratch for Computer Science course. Teaching basic programming skills in C++.

TERADYNE, INC., Deerfield, IL 1995-2002
Manufacturer of automatic subscriber line and broadband test equipment.
SR. APPLICATIONS ENGINEER
* Created the design specifications for a new module, DSP based that generates various signaling schemes in order to gain access to analog and hybrid switches. Designed new protocol: planning, outsourcing, and production testing. Wrote test program using C language to test all functionality of the module.
* Investigated and created switch interfaces to gain metallic access to subscriber lines including protocol analysis. Wrote a detailed description of each interface.
* Develop and documented lab and field trial plans.
* Wrote a manual on how to setup the interface lab (this saved weeks of work).
* Configured and tested: Measurement Units, Software (UNIX based) installation and configuration, User Interfaces. CPU, Modems, Routers , Terminal Servers.
* Wrote and documented Central Office simulation programs in C language for the interface lab.
* Tested software release (UNIX), debug programs, used SCCS and clearcase.
* Performed system field trials, software and hardware upgrades and changes. Integrated switch interfaces into the System software. Modified the software for the Measurement Unit (FLASHs, ROMs programming), VMS based, to integrate this unit with the Test System Controller.
* Characterized subscriber line for different markets (relevant parameter measurements).
* Used MatLab (SciLab), MathCad and PSPICE for analysis and simulations for different line conditions.
* Intensive customer interaction with the South American market.

ASTER CORPORATION, Hopkinton, Massachusetts. 1992-1995
Manufacturer fiber optic products.
SR. TEST ENGINEER
* In charged of the specification, acquisition and layout of 5 environmental chambers and power requirements.
* Installed and programmed a programmable motion controller (PMC) using a bus compatible PC board and absolute encoders on the motor side to scan the output of the Devices Under Test (DUT).
* Installed, adjusted: Lock-In-Amplifiers, Digital Frequency Counters, Function Generators, InGaAs Detectors, Laser Drivers for the test station data acquisition. Also installed ADC boards and current amplifier detector to measure the light (1310 and 1550 nm) from the DUTs (devices under test), verified linearity for the dynamic range.
* Tested Optical Couplers for Insertion Loss, Uniformity, Directivity, Reflectance, and Polarization.
* Responsible for setting up reliability stations.
* Installed/ connected environmental controllers to monitor temperature and relative humidity as required by Bellcore.
* Team work with other Sr. Physicists to develop a program to reduce redundant data and do the preliminary number crunching for DUTs.

PORTA SYSTEMS CORPORATION. Sayosset, NY. 1988-1992
Telecommunication products.
SR. ELECTRONIC TELECOMMUNICATION FIRMWARE-HARDWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER.
* Designed and built a Test Trunk Emulator that provided call progress detection, loop current measurements, R1 and MFC signaling, Dual-Tone Multifrequency (DTMF), among other features, using analog and digital CMOS technology to simulate all possible switches encountered in the field.
* Statistical Analysis of PCBs returned for repair in order to identify the main failure modes and related components.
* Evaluation of software packages for reliability prediction based on Bellcore specifications. Reliability calculations (MTBF, MTTR, FIT) for the new Test Head, making recommendations on how to improve the MTBF.
* Identified problems and provided immediate solutions, example: designed a PCB based on LSI chip (combines switched-capacitor and digital frequency measuring) using low power CMOS to remove odd harmonics induced by the power lines. Created corresponding schematics (OrCAD) and documentation.
* Specified, redesigned, tested and documented the firmware and hardware necessary to interface the company's test system with specific Central Offices (CO).
* Extensive customer interface and site inspection (Mexico, Venezuela, former Czechoslovakia, Germany).

Pursuit of Master of Science in Physics 1986-1988

* Honor Research Fellow at the Far Infrared (FIR) Laboratory at the Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) at Teaneck, NJ.

SHELL CORPORATION-VENEZUELAN OIL COMPANY. (Caracas, Venezuela) 1980 - 1985
SR. ELECTRONIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER
* Analyzed the message-switching network suggesting improvements, providing savings of $0.4 million. Defined project requirements. Investigated alternate and new technologies.
* Financial analysis and comparison of alternatives, Gantt charts, structured the contract, negotiated with vendors. Requested and evaluated RFPs (Request for Proposal).
* Evaluated job progress and final acceptance. Created a program to estimate the progress of outside plant projects.
* Designed microwave links, made profiles, First Fresnel Zone calculations, availability, reflections, interference and hop calculations.
* Responsible for writing the generic requirements, acquisition and installation of 25 EPABX digital switches (200 - 450 lines, expandable to 1500) to replace old electromechanical switches.
* Designed, based on UIT recommendations a 5,000 line telephone network (outside plant), including local distribution and the purchase and installation of a EPABX (Electronic Private Automatic Branch Exchange)
* Factory tested for compliance to specs: crosstalk, trunk to trunk insertion loss, line to line loss, line to trunk attenuation, signaling, BER measurements using a QAM modem at 9600 baud and test code 511.
