Lead and supported managers for these four divisions, plus a security engineer and thirty plus indirect reports. Key initiatives include:
* Departmental Reorganization - Primary responsibility in the development and recruiting of the infrastructure team for the City's newly formed Department of Information Technology.
* Enterprise IT Assessments - Oversight of technology assessments including architectural infrastructure, data center, Windows server infrastructure, network and security assessments to provide a baseline and road map for enterprise level improvements.
* Rebuild IT Infrastructure Systems - Develop IT infrastructure to support enterprise applications including ERP, time and attendance, GIS, document management and others. Projects included server and storage consolidation; WAN and core network upgrade with a multi-gigabit backbone and tiered design. Relocation of legacy mainframe and AS/400 systems. * RFP Development and Management - Produce and manage RFPs for key IT services and systems. Oversight of contract negotiation and management.
* Operations Budget - Responsible for creation of operational and discretionary budget. Presented and justified budget before CIO, City Executive IT Council and as necessary the City Council.
* Oversight of IT Staff Citywide - Establish standards, protocols and communication for all City IT staff.

City Government, Manager - Network Operations/Telecommunications
Reported to CIO to provide day-to-day support and management of all network and telecommunications services.
Key accomplishments include:
* City Court Implementation - Addressed all unresolved issues for network and telecom requirements during the move of 250+ users to the new City Court building. Managed vendors and staff as necessary to ensure IT operations were available on the targeted move in date.
* Exchange Email System - Managed recoveries of failed email systems. Designed and implemented fault-tolerant system with antispam capabilities and improved Internet email management.
* Telecommunications - Implement and oversee process improvement in telecommunications division to provide timely and efficient support to the end user community.

Metro County Information Systems, IS Consultant
Reported to the Director and Assistant Director of large metro County Information Systems department. Provided expertise for assigned projects. Made significant improvements to the County's IT systems. Three month assignment extended to long term engagement. Key accomplishments included:
* Exchange Redesign - Made modifications to stabilize the Exchange environment to serve over 3,500 County employees. Installed dedicated Internet email system; improved email security with anti-virus and anti-spam systems; implemented email web access.
* Internet Access - Identified cause of lackluster Internet response and frequent outages. Implemented new firewall through a managed service provider to dramatically improve response.
* Network Backup/SAN - Assumed responsibility to design and implement a network backup solution for all Windows NT/2000 and AIX-Oracle servers. Managed relationships with competing vendors to identify and develop system. Developed bid package for final procurement. Managed successful implementation.
* Network Support - Provided advice and support during County's migration to a new gigabit fiber network. Assisted with testing and deployment, identifying and resolving issues posed during migration.
