OBJECTIVE

To capitalize on over 30 years of significant technical training and experience in COMPUTER and TELECOMMIUNICATIONS technology including VOICE and DATA COMMUNICATIONS; as well as LAN, WAN, INTERNET and other INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES. Specific goals include working in any IT environment built on the CISCO inter-networking platform. Other goals include working with forward-thinking companies facing strategic labor and skill shortages now and in the very near future, and to work toward a flexible and phased early retirement that includes varied short and medium term IT projects.

VOICE COMMUNICATIONS EXPERIENCE

AT&T. Indianapolis, IN. (9/05 to present). Telecommunications Specialist with major Regional Bell Operating Company. Work in the Indianapolis Network Surveillance and Analysis Center (NSAC). As part of the Network Operations Center (NOC), NSAC monitors, troubleshoots and provides first level support for field (CO) technicians and other customers. NSAC supports ALL NORTEL Central Office's (CO's) in 5 states (Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin), and operates 24/7 to handle, create and route trouble tickets as they pertain to any technical problem at any NORTEL CO in the region. NSAC also monitors and troubleshoots the 5 state SS7/AIN (Advanced Intelligent Network), including STP's and SCP's on platforms such as NORTEL, ALCATEL and TEKELEC. NSAC also works closely with transport and TOLL personnel in support of long haul carrier systems including T1's, T2' and up; SONET, ISDN, SLC96, and every other type of common carrier in user today.

AT&T (Formerly SBC). Indianapolis, IN. (9/01-9/05). Telecommunications Specialist with major Regional Bell Operating Company. Worked in the Central Translations Group (CTG), part of the Network Operations Center (NOC). Worked with complex translations to configure (provision) routing tables and various other software tables associated with the NORTEL DMS 100 and 200 central office and tandem switching systems in the 5 states mentioned above. Work with POTS, CENTREX, ISDN and other technologies to provide customer access to the public telephone network. Worked with various other TELCO personnel to troubleshoot and resolve any problems or issues relating to the routing of calls.

Microtel Information Systems, Inc. Terre Haute, IN. (93-99). Systems Engineer. Installed and maintained digital telephone KEY systems at the customer site. Configured and installed voice mail computer systems.

Saverline Corp. Terre Haute, IN. (84-85). Telecommunications Engineer. Small company that offered long distance phone service at discount rates. Installed and maintained telephone line switching systems (PBX's) in 10 cities around Indiana. Installed and supported mini and microcomputer systems that were associated with the network.

U.S. Air Force. (75-79). Telecommunications Systems Control Specialist. Worked in a primary TECH CONTROL FACILITY and an AUTOVON TECH CONTROL FACILITY. These positions involved using test equipment and procedures to monitor, test and re-route communications circuits as they progressed through transmitters, receivers, multiplexers and modems ect. Performed Quality Control checks using equipment such as test tone generators and distortion analyzers to send, receive and analyze test signals from other tech control facilities located in other parts of the world. Performed circuit conditioning on circuits with equipment such as echo suppressors, frequency counters, envelope delay test set, etc.

LAN, WAN, DATA COMMUNICATIONS & INTERNET EXPERIENCE

Hoosier Freelance, Inc. Self employed Network Integrator. (98 to 01). AUTHORIZED NOVELL RESELLER and NOVELL SMALL BUSINESS SPECIALIST. Launched home-based business by doing several Y2K network upgrade projects in 98 & 99. Sales & Support of Computer networking components such as Servers, Workstations, Hubs, Routers etc. Install and configure customer networks to share resources such as files, printers and Internet connectivity. Provide Remedial and Preventive maintenance support. Experienced with most common OS's and NOS's including WINDOWS 3X, WINDOWS 9X, WINDOWS NT AND NOVELL NETWARE.

Microtel Information Systems, Inc. Terre Haute, IN. (93-99). Systems Engineer, Network Administrator and Manager of Network Services Department. Developed network sales and support department from scratch. Became AUTHORIZED NOVELL RESELLER in 94 and NOVELL GOLD PARTNER in 97. Network Administrator for Microtel's LAN and many of Microtel's customers. Provided similar services as mentioned in previous paragraph as well as support NOVELL GROUPWISE messaging systems.

FOUR YEARS diversified experience as Telecommunications Systems Control Specialist (Tech Controller) in U.S. Air Force. (75-79). This position was similar to that of a Communications Technician in a phone company CO (Central Office). Duties were to troubleshoot and coordinate restoration of communications (WAN) circuits used in the military's worldwide communications network. Used a wide variety of electronic test equipment to isolate problem areas in equipment such as modems, multiplexers, computers, microwave systems, satellite communications, cryptographic equipment, HF, Tropospheric Scatter and other radio wave propagation systems. Required TOP SECRET SSIR security clearance.

Most notable and enjoyable position was a 2 year assignment at the AUTODIN (Automatic Digital Network) Tech Control Center at Andrews AFB, Maryland near Washington D.C. AUTODIN was the military's message switching network used for sending and receiving classified and non classified messages to and from users throughout the world. (NOTE: This is the same "store and forward" technology that is used with modern messaging systems like Novell Groupwise and Microsoft Exchange Server.) Used test equipment such as oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers to troubleshoot asynchronous and synchronous WAN circuits and mainframe computer systems.

Due to previous military experience was chosen as primary Field Engineer for GTE Telenet contract work while with MAI Sorbus. (85-91). Telenet was a major X.25 PACKET SWITCHING provider. This HIGHLY PROFITABLE account generated the company considerable monthly revenues for about two years. During this period we completely installed a new TCO (Telenet Central Office), handled the cutover from the old TCO, de-installed the old TCO and maintained all equipment at the new location.


COMPUTER REPAIR EXPERIENCE


Worked a year as "remote" Field Engineer with Datapoint Corp. Terre Haute, IN. (83-84). Ran a one-man office and had a territory of approximately 40 customers. Repaired microcomputer systems, PC's, Servers and supported Datapoint's ARC local area networks. Datapoint was one the first LAN companies.

Nine years technical experience with MAI Sorbus / MAI Basic Four Corp. (79-83, & 85-91). Rochester, NY. & Indianapolis, IN. Senior Field Engineer. Primary objective as an SFE was to maintain mainframe and mini computer systems (repair hardware such as CPU's, disk drives, printers, and terminals etc.) at the customer site and to perform routine preventive maintenance calls.
