EXPERIENCE DETAIL:

Jan 2007/Current Independent Consultant
• For large distribution and supply company utilizing SAP & BW - design/develop/maintain sophisticated BI reports with Business Objects Crystal XI having interfaces to SAP R/3 tables & functions, SAP BW queries and a variety of external databases under both Oracle & SQL environments.
• GL team lead during the merger of two large (>$500+ million) consumer product companies. Worked closely with senior management from both companies. Responsibilities included integrating the GL modules of the ERP systems of both companies, one system being PeopleSoft and the other SAP, SAP being the surviving system. My team was responsible for developing a new organizational structure which facilitated legal, tax, functional and SEC segment reporting. We were also responsible for integration and mapping of master data including GL accounts and related cost and profit centers and then reconciliation of financial data for the merged operation. Used SQL, MS-Access, Crystal Reports and Excel as tools. Additionally we were required to develop numerous reports using the SAP Report Painter tool and our Hyperion Essbase OLAP environments. Upon my recommendation we also implemented the new WinShuttle mass-maintenance and query tools to provide additional functionality. Utilized automated SOX tracking tools to maintain and monitor status of SOX compliance documents for myself and my staff.
• Worked on a couple of other small IT projects including:
o Medical equipment manufacturer -- assisted them with implementation of their SAP B1 ERP system and developed several complex reports using Business Objects Crystal Reports Version XI.
o Printing company - assisted them with implementation of their vertical market ERP system.

June 2005/Jan 2007 Founder - Virtual Offices of San Antonio
• Attempted to establish an IT related incubation company. Did not succeed!
Established a company, “Virtual Offices of San Antonio”, with intent of providing a central location and focus point for independent and small groups of technology service providers. I also established the AICSP (Association of Internet and Computer Solutions Providers) -- see . Ultimately I discovered less demand for the services than anticipated and terminated operations after a year an a half.

Oct 1992/May 2005 Sr. Accounting and Technical Consultant for Worldwide Beverage Distributor
This consulting engagement lasted 13 years! Project Manager and/or lead Business/IT analyst and first line of support for both accounting and systems issues for multiple accounting managers and financial analysts of this $700 million manufacturing/distribution company. Reported to Sr. VP of Finance.
• Responsibilities included working with senior business managers to identify and document functional business requirements then translate them into technical specifications for systems development.
• Project manager and lead design, development and implementation analyst for a number of custom Accounting/ERP modules for company plant & office locations throughout the US. Included: GL, Payables & Disbursements, Orders and Invoicing, Receivables and Cash Receipts, Banking (EFT/ACH), MRP and Inventory Control, Budgeting and numerous custom reports.
• Throughout the acquisition of a major industry competitor I was responsible for successfully managing the integration of the accounting and financial systems, training the accounting personnel and otherwise ensuring a smooth transition with minimal interruption to business processes.
• Worked closely with Big-4 auditors to retrieve and analyze accounting and financial data.
• Researched & selected a simplified manual SOX compliance system.

Summary: Over the term of this lengthy engagement I participated in a major turnaround and restructuring of the company that resulted in a tripling of sales and significantly increased profitability and cash flow. The company was transformed from a stagnant manufacturer of a commodity product operating in a mature industry to an efficient marketing and service-based company utilizing aggressive management techniques and state-of-the-art technology.

The automated systems and procedures I assisted in designing and implementing significantly improved performance and reduced labor costs at the company's multiple plant locations and helped position the company to make a major acquisition of a much larger industry competitor.

At the conclusion of my engagement I participated in replacing our legacy accounting system with the Great Plains client/server/SQL based accounting suite from Microsoft (now referred to as DynamicsGP) along with a COGNOS Data Warehouse.
