Data Analyst
Served as a Data Analyst responsible for auditing telecom data for nationally based client branches. Designed and developed MS Access based reports, forms and linked MS Access based databases to package based applications using VBA and Access macros.
• Primary role consisted of identifying routing inconsistencies for Rate Centers within telecom switches. Determination of routing data accomplished through integrating several data sources employing VBA automation. Developed script builder application to dynamically Telnet into telecom switch and capture routing table data. Secondary role involved comparisons of additional data sources for further reporting needs.
• Data Sources include: LAD (Line Assignment Database) Web based source listing Rate Centers served by individual Switches. Calling Scopes Excel spreadsheet detailing Rate Centers which Charter serves and their terminating Rate Centers.
• LERG DB (Local Exchange Routing Guide) MS Access database which contains all NPA NXX Codes (first 6 digits of a 10 digit phone number) for every Rate Centers in the United States. Nortel switch data accessed via telnet data capture from Symantec Pro-Com Plus (terminal emulation app).
• Reformatted and structured as tab delimited file, then linked and formatted in MS Access utilizing VBA. Cedar Point switch data accessed via xml data export then linked and formatted in MS Access utilizing VBA.
• These sources are combined within Microsoft Access to produce a listing of NPA NXXs for Terminating Rate Centers within and Originating Rate Center's calling scope. This data is compared against the switch exports to uncover inconsistencies to be corrected. Completed primary objective within 2 months where expected to take up to 6 months. Initial audit results returned 100k + exceptions all of which are now resolved - projected cost savings of 2,000k annually.
• Since completion of initial project have developed additional applications, which audit various routing elements within the Cedar Point and Nortel switches.

MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc. 03/91 -- 02/08
Data Analyst / Report Developer
Served as a Data Analyst and Report Developer for MEMC, a manufacturer of silicon semiconductor wafers for use in electronic components. Designed and developed numerous reporting applications for the presentation and analysis of manufacturing metrics utilizing Business Objects, Custom SQL, VBA, Oracle, MS Access and Excel. Interfaced reporting applications with custom developed and package based applications. Worked closely with business systems users and IT management to define reporting requirements, develop, test and implement reporting solutions to meet client needs. Specific examples detailed as follows:
• Designed and developed Business Objects reports that extract and present client data from both predefined universes and Oracle databases using custom SQL queries. Performed data mining using key factors and variables to extract client data using the Business Objects reporting suite.
• Designed and developed Business Objects reports to detail the specifics of equipment downtime for analysis. Extracted universe data containing open work orders, safety work orders with time-line of completions. Also extracted data from an Oracle database and graphed the results using Excel.
• Developed an observational MS Access based quality tracking application for site-wide use. Designed application to track observation data and generate statistical analysis reports merging site quality metrics to establish a global snapshot of quality performance. Also integrated automated report distributions via e-mail client.
• Developed a VBA and MS Access based automated yield-reporting tool. Designed tool to extract Oracle based data and display snapshots of daily production metrics. Also transferred data to OLE Excel objects and summarized the data in graphs detailing current, 7 day and 30 day yield trends for specific yield metrics. Analyzed Oracle data and tested database extracts using TOAD.
• Developed MS Access based application to manage the storage of over 4000 chemicals used in the manufacturing process, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information and applicable environmental regulations. Specifically designed the application to store, retrieve and update MSDS's electronically on company's file server utilizing VBA interface via Window's API's.
• Developed an injury-tracking database and forms systems using MS Access. Loaded MS Access based database from thousands of records contained in loosely maintained Excel spreadsheets to defined MS Access fields and data types. Tested Oracle data extracts using TOAD and designed reports to detail trends and related cost metrics. Also developed a VBA and MS Access based application add-on to integrate the application data with a package based client server communication system.
• Developed MS Access based utility to analyze Oracle based inventories and product genealogies for optimizing material movement. Designed logic to compare movement of product through life-cycle analyzing parts of parent and sibling products and reporting on yield and throughput.
• Developed MS Access database to track the late shipment of material. Designed utility to analyze shipment histories and genealogies to locate the probable root cause. Integrated this application with companies custom developed client server based Corrective Action Request (CAR) system to monitor and report status of CAR's related to late shipments.
• Supported the design and development of a client server based application for recording and monitoring Emission Control Devices (ECD's). Managed the recording and reporting of emission metrics for each department. Automated the client server based system to respond to missed readings and abnormal recordings with an automated email. Increased emission control compliance from less then 50% to 99%. Commended by Environmental Protection Agency for transferring ownership of ECD's to local departments responsible for maintaining devices.
• Developed MS Access reporting tool to interface with a client-server based ECD application to report non-compliant data entries as a follow-up to the automated email reporting system. Designed a utility to extract and presented the data for analysis using a DDE linkage.
• Utilized MS Access, Crystal Reports and Business Objects to assist in various ADHOC reports specific to manufacturing operations.
• Extensive experience designing complex reports utilizing MS Access, Business Objects and Crystal Reports 6.0. Exposure to Crystal Reports development -- MS access utilizes very similar design elements as Crystal Reports.
• Also served as the Emergency Response Team Lead. Certified/trained and experienced in First Responder (Advanced First Aid), CPR, Hazard Waste Operations (HAZWOPER), Hazardous Chemical Cleanup and Fire Fighting as outlined in OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.120.
