IBM iSeries Certified Instructor/Developer, iSERIES LPAR and Hardware V5R3 and V5R4 Certified Expert and IBM Certified Technical Trainer

Synopsis: Over 30 years technical, teaching, writing and IT Management experience working for IBM and other IBM Business Partners. I have 15 years in the field as an IBM Customer Engineer (CE) and 11years as an IBM Instructor and Course Developer. I managed 25+ iSeries systems that supported IBM Worldwide Education. Presently, I teach, write, install, consult and manage IBM iSeries systems for internal IBM, IBM Business Partners and customers.

Education: AA and BS degrees from St. John's University in Jamaica, New York. I have 9 Masters Credits in Education from the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz.
Experience:
1977-1992: IBM CE. I held various CE titles and managed many different territories in New York. I repaired and moved most of the IBM hardware platform including Office Products, Communications Equipment, Keypunch, Midrange (System 36) and large water cooled systems. I was one of the first CE's trained on the AS/400 system in late 1988. I always exceeded my expected target numbers.
1992-2004: IBM Senior Instructor Specialist and Course Developer.
I was one of the lead Instructor/Developers for the iSeries courses including the CISC to RISC upgrade course for the CE's and customers. I was the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the AS/400 Model 150 Service Package. I taught and developed one of the first IBM AS/400 distance learning Operator's classes on the Internet. I worked on the 8xx Hardware and LPAR courses and I was the course owner and lead instructor for the iSeries Basic course. In addition to the LPAR classes, I have taught iSeries Base and Advanced System Operator, Security and Administration and Control classes to both public and private audiences. I have spoken at many IBM iSeries Technical Conferences, writing and presenting LPAR, Disk Management, Clustering, Problem Determination and overall Systems Management and Performance topics. I retired from IBM in February 2004.
02/2004 -10/2004: IT Senior Technical Support Specialist for IBM ITES Worldwide Education. I upgraded, (both hardware and software) moved, reconfigured, maintained and repaired millions of dollars of IBM's iSeries complex systems and all the peripheral hardware. These machines were mission critical and test environment machines, used to teach and develop iSeries classes. I would install and assign the hardware, load the systems and applications, (e.g. WebSphere) maintain and monitor the progress of the classes until completion.
11/2004-12/2005: Under contract to IBM, I taught the AS530 iSeries LPAR class with the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to the public as well as private customized classes throughout the country.
12/2005-08/2007: I was the IBM iSeries Certified Technical Hardware/Pre and Post Sales Specialist for ProActive Solutions in Fairway, Kansas. I continued to teach for IBM Education.
09/2007-Present: I work as a contractor for IBM Internal Education, teaching IBM System Support Representatives (SSR's) how to fix the iSeries platform. The course consists on IBM Hardware, Software and Communications equipment. I am also involved with the course updates for the IBM Internal iSeries Education curriculum. I teach IBM Customer classes through EduCorp Training in Irving, Texas. I teach public and private versions of the IBM iSeries/pSeries Logical Partitioning (LPAR) classes managed through the Hardware Management Console. (HMC) The HMC uses a closed version of UNIX software to control the machines. I also teach both public and private Operations, Advanced Operations, and Administration and Controls classes. I do consulting work through Optimus Solutions in Norcross, Georgia, performing both hardware and software upgrades on the i or p series platforms. I coordinate and perform repairs when necessary, including TCPIP, ASCI, Twinax, etc. communication protocols.
