WORK EXPERIENCE
I have expertise in architecting hardware and software solutions for the IBM AS/400 System i5. I began consulting in 1984 and became an IBM Business Partner in 1989. I have an iSeries in my home office and my license plate reads “MR AS400”. I have supported the IBM iSeries (AS/400) since 1988 and have worked on multiple assignments concurrently. Some major accounts include:
American Honda Motor Company 1/2001 -- 4/2008
Torrance, CA
IBM iSeries System Administrator supporting 45 systems in auto manufacturing and warehousing/distribution. Primary support for MQSeries, BRMS, Robot Console, and Mimix High Availability software. Implemented new technologies such as HMC, LPAR, LTO tape libraries, Host on Demand, and EMC Symmetrix external storage using fibre adapters. Managed OS/400 upgrade projects including V5R4 and I have installed over 200 servers, including i515, i520, i525, i570, 810, and 825 models. Participated in an early software program for Lakeview's Mimix for MQSeries H.A. solution. With a $2.4M budget, I architected and installed 2 model 825s supporting PkMS warehouse picking system for the 12 Honda Parts centers with over 2,000 users. Performed hardware and software product evaluations. Recommended and installed Help Systems Robot/Console and Robot/Network for Systems Management.
Nestle USA 2/90 -- 1/2001

IBM AS/400 Technical Specialist providing level 3 support for 65+ AS/400 systems. Projects included MQ Series design and implementation; Web based TN5250 implementation; large scale hardware installations and OS upgrade projects, model upgrades; performance tuning and capacity planning. Performed financial studies/justifications for AS/400 hardware upgrades and annual budgets. Worked on numerous projects requiring cross-systems knowledge (NT, AS/400, Unix, mainframe). Implemented network communications using TCP/IP, SNA, VTAM, Client Access, and Wall Data Rumba, and host (MVS) communications (RJE, NJE, SNADS, APPC). AS/400 COBOL/APPC development communicating with MVS/CICS. Programmed inventory systems (DIS) in COBOL for 6 months on the AS/400 for Nestle's manufacturing plants.
