DESIGNING EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

ALASKA SPACE GRANT PROGRAM (ASGP), University of Alaska Fairbanks, Fairbanks, Alaska
Research Assistant
January 2005 to Present

> Design and implementation of a Plasma Probe: With several months of 16+ hour workdays & over a year of research, my M.S. thesis involved the successful design & implementation of a $60,000 plasma probe as part of a $9,000,000 NASA funded, sounding rocket mission to study the Aurora Borealis. The instrument successfully measured the densities of the positively charged ions & secondary auroral electrons in the ionospheric E-region during the mission.

I have presented a detailed description of my work at http://www.sujith-nair.info/PlasmaProbe.html.

> Design and implementation of a 64-channel Anti-Aliasing Filter: The instrument was designed for the Ionospheric Science and Inertial Sensing (ISIS) sounding rocket mission. It features remotely programmable corner frequencies and accepts both single ended and/or differential signal inputs.

> Design and implementation of a USB <-> RS232 <-> UART converter: The converter converts signals between RS232, USB and UART & was designed quickly for adding computer connectivity to prototyped microcontroller/FPGA boards.

> Flash Wiring Harness: I volunteered & created an interactive flash project detailing the ISIS mission's payload wiring harness to help the ISIS team perform payload troubleshooting and testing.
