Responsible for design and development of a data warehouse and ETL processes that support reporting for the Interactive Sales and Marketing departments. Responsibilities included: design, development, testing and roll-out of new and re-engineered ETL processes comprised of Microsoft SQL Server DTS packages and SQL Server stored procedures; design, development and roll-out of database tables (star schemes) used by the Business Objects reporting environment. Created standards for stored procedure programming and database object naming (tables, indices, stored procedures, jobs, DTS packages, etc). Designed architecture of the overall structure and interaction between SQL server jobs, DTS packages and stored procedures as well as general data flow from source to data warehouse.


Investment Technology Group - Senior Engineer (January 2001 - July 2006)

Responsible for numerous upgrades to the system that is used to book tickets from brokerage transactions. Added new functionality to the system and migrated legacy code from C to C++. The upgrades also included creating Perl scripts to make the system more user-friendly and stable. Technology used: C, C++, UNIX shell scripts, Sybase SQL Server in a SUN Solaris environment.


TCA - Transaction Cost Analysis - DBA (January, 2001 - April, 2004)

Designed and implemented enhancements of the data model and Sybase database for a product that allows customers to analyze transaction costs incurred while trading stock. The enhancements include implementation of referential integrity as well as a more normalized and more structured data model. Administered the database development and database QA environments as well as maintained data integrity for the system production environment. Created numerous scripts to facilitate data migration for Sybase upgrades as well as data model enhancements. Also responsible for some C++ work on the engine that is responsible for the report calculations.


C-bridge Internet Solutions -Seagate - Process Development Portal (Industry: Hard Disk Drives) - Technical Lead (May, 2000 - August, 2000)

Definition, design, development and deployment of an Intranet portal designed to allow Seagate more accessibility to their hard disk drive design process. The completion of this project led to a number of follow-on projects with Seagate. Responsibilities included providing technical direction to a team of six people and helping to define the technical architecture.

Shea - Data Warehouse (Industry: Home Construction) - Technical Team Leader (December, 1999 - March, 2000)

Design of a data warehousing application for a leading home construction company. The first phase of the data warehouse included data feeds from two production databases based on Microsoft Access and Foxpro. Responsibilities included mentoring a team of four people in the technical and data warehouse domain, creating an overall architecture for the data warehouse based on Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 on Microsoft NT 4.0, and designing both the data warehouse and the staging area data model.


Honda - Customer Management System (Industry: Automotive) - System Administrator (December, 1998 - December, 1999)

Development of a Clarify customer management system that allowed the Honda Finance company to manage its financial customers and assets (leases and loans) more effectively. Responsibilities included setting up the development, test and production environments on HP-UX, assuring quality in the UNIX development effort, establishing C and C++ coding standards and conducting C and C++ code reviews. Additional responsibilities included solving architectural issues with data transfers and developing a batch process scheduler and a portion of a data extract system on the HP-UX platform. Assisted team members with the development of stored procedures. Technology used: HP-UX, Sybase, CVS, Perl, and Unix scripting.


Bourns - Data Warehouse Conversion (Industry: Electronic Components) - Technical Team Leader (October, 1998 - December, 1998)

Design, development and rollout of a small data warehouse migration toolkit to prepare an existing data warehouse for a new data feed from a SAP environment. Responsible for building UNIX and database scripts for converting data warehouse data. Provided general UNIX technical guidance and support to the Bourns client team, which was inexperienced in this area. Technology used: HP-UX and Perl.


WFS - Data Warehouse (Industry: Automotive loans) - Software Engineer (August, 1998)

Scope and refinement of user requirements (both data and analytical requirements) to perform on-line analytical processing (OLAP) of historical data to support business decisions. Identified initial measures and dimensions and created an initial dimensionality matrix.


PrimeStar - Customer Management System (Industry: Satellite Television) - Technical Team Leader (March, 1998 - July, 1998)

Design of a Scopus customer management system to provide an integrated tool for capturing customer data, performing credit checks and managing services delivered to the customer. This system interfaced with numerous external systems, such as CCS, an IBM mainframe-based billing system, Equivax and Postalsoft servers for credit checks and address verification, and internally developed web servers for current "black-out" information. Responsibilities included designing the middleware communication between the Scopus user interface and various external systems and leading a back-end team of four people. The back-end team was responsible for integrating external systems into the application. Additional responsibilities included preparing client deliverables, such as the Design document and the Interface Agreement document, which described the interface to each external system in detail. Technology used: HP-UX, Oracle, Scopus.
