Distribution Work Management System (DWMS)
The Distribution Work Management System (DWMS) web tool is a set of processes and software programs implemented to streamline Distribution work. These standardized processes and highly effective tools allow Distribution to better track and expedite work -- benefitting both AEP customers and employees. DWMS also enables Distribution to better utilize its assets and to return greater value to AEP's shareholders.
Included in the DWMS software programs:
• STORMS - A resource management tool allowing jobs to be initiated through interfaces in the Customer Solutions Centers (CSC), Distribution Dispatch Centers (DDC) or any employee with access to STORMS.




• SPECTRUM -A mobile application allowing field personnel to receive and complete jobs while tracking their progress in near real time.

The purpose of this project was to greatly improve the usability, functionality, and maintainability of the DWMS Webtool browser by rewriting the tool using an AEP standard technology set. Additional reporting on event counts is being added to provide useful measurements for load models and for use by Support for tracking system activity.

A cross-referenced WR or External System Primary Key lookup is being added to give a complete audit of messages related to a WR or External System Primary Key. Several queries for order tracking in SIM are being added for trouble shooting and support of that system.

These new features in combination with various usability changes will bring the Webtool forward and will greatly enhance the user experience with this tool.

The system was derived from an existing Microsoft Access system (“SBE”) and re-engineered into a client server application utilizing an Oracle database.
System Components
There are several components to the application:
The SCBE Main application -- The SCBE Main application consists of several Visual Basic projects. It is a 3 tier project with a User Interface tier, a Business Objects tier and a Database Objects tier. In addition, there are separate projects for the Invoice creation, billing determinants calculations, and batch submissions of calculations, invoices and postings to the Customer Information System. . Sheridan Active Suite is needed to support the ActiveListBar

This project was an enhancement of the security and Invoice template control features.

The Customer Communication System (CCS) is an Internet-based, interactive energy information system designed to provide the necessary flow of information between AEP and its customers. CCS supports three main services:
• Interruptible Services
• Special Services
• Real Time Pricing (RTP)
The new Kentucky Power Company Experimental Real-Time Pricing Tariff is available to customers normally taking firm service under Tariffs Q.P. or C.I.P-T.O.D. for their total capacity requirements from the Company. The customer will pay real-time prices for load in excess of an amount designated by the customer. This experimental tariff will be limited to a maximum of 10 customers.
This tariff will be offered on a pilot basis for a three-year period. The RTP Tariff will offer customers the opportunity to manage their electric costs by shifting load from higher cost to lower cost pricing periods or by adding new load during lower price periods. It will also offer the ability to experiment in the wholesale electricity market by designating a portion of the customer's load subject to standard tariff rates with the remainder of the load subject to real-time prices.
AEP already has a system in place, the Special Contract Billing Engine (SCBE), for billing Oklahoma Real-Time Pricing customers. This Project outlines the functional and non-functional requirements related to enhancing CCS to bill Kentucky Power Real-Time Pricing customers.

The Project SIRVAL stands for Standard Input Record Validation system that creates the gateway for the data into the data warehouse system (Called NRSP designed and developed by ORACLE Corp) to support business intelligence needs of the client's. SIRVAL loads a huge volume of data, to the tune of many TB's of raw data, into the NRSP Factory data scopes.
This application involves extracting data from various sources like store data from mainframes (As Flat file), cross coding data from EIMDB and Sample data from SCDB.
Later data marts are created for various services from these data, after applying the validations and business rules. Validation is the core functionality of the system which involves complex statistical models and algorithms.

Last stage of this system involves loading the data into NRSP and NSLP data scopes. Output is delivered in three methods: DBlink, Oracle advanced queue and FTP.

• Worked on complete SDLC from Extraction, Transformation and Loading of data using Oracle.
