Project Leader, Application Development and Architecture April 2008 -- present
Manage team of six developers of various skill sets and levels using both SDLC and Agile methodologies. Create customized sports XML/data outputs for a variety of customers, e.g., CNN, Yahoo!, ESPN, the NY Daily News, RTE (Ireland), National Post (Canada), Kyodo News (Japan). Design and oversee development of new in-house applications and systems. Interview candidates and make hiring decisions (w/ IT director). Provide 24/7 emergency support.
Key Projects/Accomplishments:
Lead designer/developer on highly successful 2008 Summer Olympics results feed, including the design, development and integration of numerous sub applications/systems:
• Upgraded incoming ASCII feed parser (multi-tier VB.NET application)
• Designed XML outputs and developed PL/SQL procedures to generate them.
• Built content management system with GUI (VB.NET) for generated text-based outputs.
• Created hosted JSP and ASP web solutions using feed's XML outputs to display the results as viewer-ready pages. Product used by RTÉ as their full Olympics results site.
• By using Agile, over 90% of initially desired features/products were created in limited time frame (4 months) resulting in very high customer satisfaction and increased sales.
Lead designer/developer of widescale fully tagged XML enhancement project (using SDLC), converting existing tabular formatted text outputs into fully tagged XML message outputs, aimed at higher feed usability and opening a platform for creating new sellable products:
• Design/create specifications for over 200 new XML output types across varied sports.
• Designed an innovative central schema utilizing common XML structures, vastly reducing development time and making outputs more useful to customers.
• Oversee final testing, validation and release-to-production of each new report.

Application Developer March 2007 - March 2008
Spearheaded the development and maintenance of Oracle and VB/VB.NET legacy applications, including Major League Baseball feed and ST2000 (central in-house content and feed management application). Fixed bugs and added enhancements to a broad range of applications.
Key Projects/Accomplishments:
Mastered Major League Baseball feed system from scratch with virtually no documentation. Made multiple enhancements (e.g., new output message types, data resend capabilities). Fixed several serious bugs that had existed in the system for over a year.
• 2 multi-tiered Windows services (VB.NET), 3 multi-tiered user interface applications (VB6), 37 Oracle PL/SQL packages with over 800 stored procedures. Nesting between stored procedures spanned multiple packages, often 5+ levels deep.
• Reverse-engineered documentation of the system, including control flowcharts, system component/boundary diagrams.

• Invented and documented a standard architecture for new feed projects.
• Helped manage and better reorganize the company's source code projects (SourceSafe).
