Honda of America Engineering, Anna, Ohio 2001 to 2007 Engineering Coordinator
Primary involvement is Mechanical Design Lead and Project Management for equipment installations at various plants for Honda and affiliates. New model launch is generally the driver for various activities although quality and ergonomics is also a motive for further equipment investments. Duties range from the design of new machining cells for additional processes to the design of turnkey robot/machining cells needed for Quality or Ergonomic reasons.
-Design and project leader for many Capital Investments:
-HTM-#2 Case Line- Aluminum Machining- New Model investment (2wd to 4wd) - Manage group of (12) associates from design through install. Modifications included were model specific tooling and common tooling for the machining operations of both Mission case and Transfer case (New/Modified Tool Layouts), Material handling for both Mission case and Transfer case (Redesign C/V guiding, Lift/ Locate devices, End Effectors for Robot cells, ect).
-AEP-#1 Block Line- Aluminum Machining- Production Investment - Increase Line efficiency and reduce cycle times - Led team of 4 to evaluate critical areas that were high in cycle time and what needed to happen to increase production levels. Additional Hone M/C was added in a parallel machining cell to Reduce cycle time, also an additional M/C was added prior to final inspection to machine any holes or surfaces that were high in cycle time.
-AEP-#0 Block Line- Aluminum Machining - Function Zone - Line Bore Machine (Lower Block Assembly) - Efficiency/ Quality Investment - Led group of 6 from spec. creation through to final acceptance completely automating the Lower block delivery process to the Line bore machining cell. Utilizing vendors, contractors, Internal designers, and manufacturing support group we were able to complete the entire project in under 12 weeks.
