CORE COMPETENCIES

*Research & development *Product engineering *Manufacturing processes
*Result oriented *Team player *Logical thinker
*Problem solving *Training & mentoring *Global cultural understanding

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

3M Company, Austin, Texas, USA.

Senior R & D / Manufacturing Manager, 2004 - 2007
* Led teams developing accessory products for Telecommunication (telecom) and Electrical (power) market.
* Instrumental in formulating, characterizing and testing Epoxy and Polyurethane resins for making insulation products used in power, telecom and, IEM industries.
* Developed closure kits for power and telecom splices to prevent mechanical and environmental damages.
* Contributed to significantly enhance performance of mechanical connectors for splicing fibers with a simple mechanical splicing unit. These are used in voice and data applications.
* Demonstrated technology expertise as material specialist by formulating sealants for connectors used in copper and in fiber networks thereby protecting bare metal elements and fibers from moisture attack. Europe and, OSHA in USA. The current European directives may even be superseded Formulated "safe" resins and kits to comply with directives such as RoHS and WEEE in by proposed law, REACH in 2007/2008.

International & Special Project Manager, 2000 - 2004
* Collaborated with a team of 3M counterparts in OUS laboratories to accomplish broad engineering solutions incorporating 3M products for major OUS Incumbent Local Exchange Companies (ILECS) and Incumbent Local Exchange Companies (CLECS).
* Conducted "3M Products Awareness" seminars for customers and carried out "train the trainer" programs for systems approach applications thus allowing potential ILECS and CLECS to build and maintain a superior communication and power networks.
* Initiated internal Quality Assurance programs in our division during 2000. Developed policies / procedures and database supporting ISO-9000:2001 standards in order to obtain UL certification ISO-9000:2001. 3M Telecom Market Division (CMD) received UL ISO-9000:2001 in year 2001.
* Practiced six sigma green-belt methodologies in R & D, product engineering and, manufacturing.
* As 3M acquired new companies in Europe and in US, I led teams of engineers introducing 'new' 3M products to potential customers (ILCS and CLECS).
* Collaborated with customers in evaluating 3M products against customer's specifications for tender bids in the Middle East and in Sub Saharan Africa.
* Worked at 3M SA in Johannesburg, South Africa to carry out technology transfer for manufacturing both liquid and solid plastic materials for power and telecommunication applications. By transferring manufacturing technology to a country in each continent, I was able to reduce cost of manufacture without losing the integrity of the products.

International Special Project Specialist, 1998 - 1999
* Transferred from 3M European Laboratories (Hamburg, Germany) on a 2-year 'foreign assignment" to 3M lab in Austin, Texas to team up with global interdisciplinary team to define a New Product Introduction (NPI) process from conception to launch of products. Task was completed.
* Appointed to a two-man team in charge of ongoing maintenance of NPI process, addressing and resolving teething problems and, ensuring its compliance with quality assurance standards and directives.

Passive Products Specialist, Specialist, Hamburg, Germany, 1981 - 1998
* Collaborated with a team of engineers to develop products for major OUS telecom and power companies. The products were sold in kits form which can be installed in factories or in the field.
* Served as an integral member of a team formulating and evaluating Heat Shrink (HS) materials for electrical, and mechanical and environmental properties along with process ability of the materials for applications in power and telecommunication fields.
* Granted a patent for an invention defining an insulation component for power and telecom applications.
* Adapted U.S. products to meet Italy's ILECS' specifications by creating a low-exothermal flexible epoxy resin compound for splice protection of paper-insulated cable network.
* Developed a polyurethane resin application for plastic insulated cables to meet specifications for Swedish ILECS'.
* Transferred to 3M lab in Austin for two years (1986 and 1987) to collaborate with USA colleagues to develop a novel, non-toxic, re-enterable and, transparent resin satisfy specifications from both Europe and the US. At the end of 2 years, we fixed a formulation, qualified it and launched the product in Q1 of 1988, meeting the time dead-line.
* In 1998, oversaw manufacturing technology transfer of the same resin to 3M plant in Hamburg, Germany. The product is still being made in Hamburg for European distribution and in US for NAFTA applications.
* Subsequently, traveled to 3M Brazil in Campinas, Brazil to oversee technology transfer for manufacturing liquid polymer for S. American applications.
* Introduced 3M products to telecom and power markets and trained potential customers on installation procedures of products through "3M products awareness" seminars and "train the trainer" programs.
* Actively assisted in formulating and defining manufacturing process for plastic resins. These are then used for moisture protection of moisture sensitive components on the networks.
* Evaluated insulations of conductors that were insulated one of three insulators such as paper, PVC, and, PE, and recommended corresponding liquid resins that assures proper mechanical performance and maintain conductor-insulation.
* Collaborated with manufacturing departments to address and resolve extrusion and assembly line shop-floor limitations.
