We are seeking a Lead Engineer, Email & Communications, for Synacor's email and messaging line of products.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead the software development team on Synacor's email and messaging products. Own technical design, development, documentation, and maintenance for this product line.
• Provide technical input to Product Managers, review product requirement documents, create functional specifications and software design, determine and execute the development schedule.
• Effectively communicate task progress, analysis, recommendations, and schedules to a variety of Synacor's customers, ranging from senior managers to other technical staff.

What you'll need to bring to the table:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required. Master's degree in CS is a plus
• Strong knowledge and 4-6 years of experience in object-oriented PHP development & PHP frameworks on Linux. Solid understanding of JavaScript, Java, and Ajax application development
• Experience working on large-scale clustered web applications. Knowledge of email protocols: POP3, IMAP4, SMTP. Experience with web email platforms a big plus
• 2-3 years of experience in working directly with product managers and creating technical specifications
• 2-3 years of experience leading a software engineering team in a fast-paced, product development environment
• Experience working with customers on technical and process issues is desired
