6-12 Month Contract

This small, high-profile, start-up team is working on a version one project focusing on developing a highly creative data visualization tool for Information Workers. The team is just starting the development of the tool and will focus on it over the next year. The tool is built using technologies, such as WPF and Silverlight 3, and has a strong visually rich requirement.

The team is in need of a Senior Designer who is capable of creating the artwork, interaction visual design and rapid concepts that will help drive the team toward an immersive and visually rich product implementation. This is a great opportunity to join the project early and contribute to the design of an exciting new product.

Responsibilities:

Leverage Illustrator and Photoshop, import into blend and build highly interactive visual controls to present to team in WPF or Silverlight.
Take UI specifications and conceptualize outputs (controls, visualizations, UI, etc) via sketches, Illustrator and PowerPoint.
Develop mock-ups and prototypes of inventive UI.
Present varying visual designs and interactions for new UI (controls, shell, and visualizations).

Required Skills for this Graphic Designer position includes the following:

5 years of design experience - Client UI, Interactive Web Application, Graphic and some 3D design.
Design degree in Graphic, Industrial or Information Design, or equivalent experience.
Experience with XAML in relation to WPF/Silverlight/Blend or a strong willingness to learn.
Strong vector art experience - Illustrator, flash, etc.
Understanding of UI control design and usability.
Interactive Flash design experience.
Practical experience with 3D graphics.
Ability to work with Developers, and share and develop design specifications with them.
Ability to pick up new methods and concepts quickly.
Self-driven and ability to share and defend concepts.
An interest in cutting edge data visualizations.
