Primary Responsibilities:

• Diagnose bugs, design efficient coding solutions to address them, and implement them in accordance with coding standards

• Develop new features, code them quickly and efficiently, and shepherd them through QA and successful release

• Help to clarify and sharpen functional requirements, communicating effectively with non-technical staff

• Understand the difference between requirements, functional design, and technical design

• Design application components to address specific business needs

• Document your work clearly and concisely

• Understand data models and distill them into reportable data

• Participate in code & peer reviews

• Estimate accurately the level of effort for programming tasks

Required Skills:

• Bachelors Degree in a Technical Field

• 2 years minimum experience in software development

• Java 5, REST, MySQL, Linux, JBoss, Spring Framework, Hibernate

• Strong analytical skills, reducing problems to manageable parts

• Proficient in database modeling and SQL

• Ability to work independently

• Experience with Test-Driven Development

Desired Experience:

• AJAX, CSS, PHP or Ruby experience

• Drools (a.k.a. JBoss Rules) experience

• Experience with Learning Management Systems

• Previous Flash or Flex front-end development

• Understanding of various software development life cycles
