POSITION TITLE: Senior Technical Product Manager, Network Products
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Product Management -- Technology Products

The Position
The Senior Technical Product Manager (PdM), Network Products defines and drives the product vision and lifecycle management for a suite of products that are leveraged across the entire NEW Asurion enterprise. This position must maintain a focus on both the future strategic direction of their products as well as the tactical management of present day product evolution activities designed to exceed customer expectations and to drive forward corporate strategic goals. (An example of a customer in this context would be the Care organization for the entire company -- working with the executive leadership of that organization to define their strategic imperatives and commitments to the company, identifying requirements necessary to deliver that vision, defining product solutions that meet those requirements, and insuring successful delivery of those products to allow the business unit to meet its objectives).

The Network PdM is thus accountable for defining, articulating, and implementing the entire lifecycle of a capability set for a suite of products, to include product evaluation and selection, initial installation, major and minor upgrades, feature-specific bug fixes, through to product retirement. The Network PdM must work with an array of different teams -- business customers, vendors, technology delivery partners, Asurion executives, etc -- and utilize a wide variety of technology types from “tried and true” industry standards to cutting edge open source solutions to customized, one of a kind software packages.

The Network PdM is responsible for the entire suite of network and network management technologies that are used across the NEW Asurion footprint. This responsibility includes LAN switching and routing, WAN connectivity and routing and Internet connectivity and routing. This role is responsible for defining the network architecture, evaluating and selecting the strategic and tactical network solutions, driving implementation and maintenance of those products, insuring network solutions align with business and technical requirements, and insuring that business value is realized from those solutions.

The Network PdM is the “owner” of their product suite solutions within NEW Asurion, and has full accountability for the performance, availability, cost, and quality of his or her products. The Network PdM defines customer requirements and works within enterprise architecture guidelines to create, install, evolve, manage, and ultimately retire the product(s) required to address those customer requirements.

Specifically, PdM's are responsible for:

? Obtaining world class return on investment in technology solutions.
? Providing full “cradle to grave” product lifecycle management.
? Establishing, maintaining and managing unit costing for their products.
? Establishing and executing their product vision and insuring tight alignment with customers.
? Developing product delivery schedules that satisfy functional roadmaps for multiple clients.
? Ensuring products align with the company's overall technology/business strategies and objectives.
? Establishing product strategies and roadmaps for their product suite
? Driving programs and projects to evolve the product set, either directly managing the activities or managing the project managers needed to insure successful delivery.
? Being accountable for analyzing production incidents with their products, driving root cause analysis of those incidents, and leading the identification and implementation of appropriate remediation actions to address the underlying root causes of the issue.
? Working with customers and operations to determine Service Level Agreements (SLA) and being accountable for meeting the established SLA's.
? Developing hands-on, in-depth knowledge of competitive products and maintaining technical and business analysis of competitive strengths and weaknesses.
? Managing vendors throughout the product management process, from investigating and evaluating products, negotiating contractual terms, insuring adherence to contractual agreements, and planning product evolution activities.
? Coordinating beta testing of new products and features, documenting and reporting problems, and recommending solutions/improvements

The Network PdM will work closely with Relationship Managers and Enterprise Architects to articulate the functional requirements of their customers, develop release schedules, and establish prioritization. They will also work closely with EA, development teams and operational staff throughout the Developing, Stabilizing and Deployment phases.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BA/BS Degree; (Engineering, Computer Science, Business or associated technical field) or equivalent experience + education. Graduate degree preferred.
• 12+ years experience working in IT, with a minimum of 5 years experience working in Product Management or a related discipline.
