We are seeking a Lead Engineer/Senior Engineer Protection & Telecom NERC to join the staff at our Newark, DE or Washington, DC location. Lead Engineer/Senior Engineering - Protection & Telecom NERC designs, engineers and implements large private, wide area network (WAN) infrastructure. Delivers a wide range of connectivity solutions. Designs solutions from scratch and correspond, presents to and interacts with a wide range of users and user applications. Oversees/participates in the development of engineering standards related to Wide Area Networks (WANs), LANs, Network Security, Data Network Architecture & Design. Designs, configures and secures private data networks. Manages quality of service, resource control, service level agreements and security policies. Evaluates the operational performance of in service data networks. Applies and configures a range of vendors' equipment, in particular Alcatel Lucent, Cisco, Ruggedcomm, Garrettcom & Cisco - firewalls switches and routers.
LEAD ENGINEER
Required:
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive, relevant engineer experience as described below (including experience as a Senior Engineer) OR the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training demonstrating the following skills:
o overseeing and/or participating in the development of engineering standards related to Wide Area Networks (WANs), LANs, Network Security, and Data Network Architecture & Design in either an industrial or electric utility environment.
o evaluating the operational performance of in-service data networks.
o designing, configuring and securing private data networks. Includes extensive knowledge of data network design principles.
o applying and configuring firewalls, switches, routers and other equipment from vendors (e.g. Alcatel Lucent, Cisco, Ruggedcomm, Garrettcom & Cisco).
o developing creative solutions to COMPLEX problems. Includes experience:
? designing, engineering and implementing large private, wide area network (WAN) infrastructure.
? delivering a wide range of connectivity solutions such as wireless, copper, and/or fiber optic.
? designing IT solutions from scratch for a wide range of custom industrial applications.
o performing complex work independently, effectively incorporating engineering theories, standards, concepts, and techniques as well as engineering/industry/government codes and regulations. Includes applying knowledge of Industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, NESC, NEMA).
o performing and interpreting COMPLEX engineering and/or economic data analyses for LARGE AND/OR COMPLEX engineering projects, using specialized utility programs and/or vendor-specific software.
o managing multiple COMPLEX engineering projects/assignments and ensuring work conforms to project/task requirements, including coordinating work across different areas, departments and/or work groups.
o identifying the need for new COMPLEX projects/initiatives and recommending a solution.
o mentoring engineers and others in a variety of engineering projects/activities.
o keeping abreast of new equipment, methods and developments in an engineering specialty.
• Knowledge of the methods and mechanisms necessary for managing quality of service, resource control, service level agreements and security policies for a network.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP principles, Cisco Routers and Switched Networks.
• Knowledge of network protocols/architecture including Boarder Gateway Protocol (BGP), Quality of Service/Class of Service (QoS/CoS), Multicast, Network Address Translation (NAT) solutions, Internet Protocol Security (IPSec), metro Ethernet, and/or switched architectures.
• Extensive experience demonstrating skill presenting oral and written results of engineering projects.
• Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, analytical and e-mail software.
• Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, CAD software, Visio).
• Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites.
• Ability and willingness to work extended hours (including holidays and weekends) with little or no notice, on-call and during storms and system emergencies.
• Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and PHI regulations (for example, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing).
• Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments which may include outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, climbing, underground and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
• This position is a NERC Regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on the incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC compliance training.
Preferred:
• Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Management.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Possesses an IT Certification such as: Security+, CCIE, CCNA, or Linux+.
• Experience demonstrating skill overseeing/participating in the development of engineering standards in an industrial environment.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850, DNP 3.0, and/or Modbus.
• Knowledge of NERC CIP Standards and their impact on electric system operations.
• Experience demonstrating skill applying SONET, TDM, Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technologies.
• Experience demonstrating skill representing a company on industry/external issues (for example, providing expert testimony, participating in industry/organizational committees).
• Experience demonstrating skill assisting in the development and/or monitoring an operating and/or capital budget.
• Experience demonstrating skill assisting supervisors with assigning work, explaining procedures/processes, training personnel, and/or solving problems.
• Experience demonstrating skill applying intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.

SENIOR ENGINEER
Required:
