The Hennepin County APEX Project Team has a need for an experienced ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) Data Architect. This individual will lead the effort to define, design, develop, manage and update the processes needed to extract, transform and load PeopleSoft data into appropriate data stores, marts and warehouses to support APEX reporting needs. PeopleSoft 9.0, Peopletools 8.49, Ascential, PeopleSoft Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) 9.0 and Cognos 8 are the tools that will be used to support the majority of the reporting needs.
The ETL Architect will utilize their technical knowledge and communication skills to work in a collaborative manner with both business functional and technical project team members throughout the project lifecycle. This individual will review data requirements and data sources to develop ETL processes and architecture that support the data and reporting needs of the business teams. This individual will make data architectural recommendations and utilize their knowledge of and experience with data architecture design concepts and techniques to develop solutions that meet the needs of the business.
The APEX Project is a countywide business process improvement and technology project designed to improve Hennepin County services and decision-making by replacing the county's 20-year-old financial and human resources information systems and improving more than 80 business processes associated with these systems.
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
Work closely with functional business teams and technical team members to design and architect quality ETL solutions as a key member of the cross-functional team.
Assist Business Analyst in capturing business reporting and data requirements.
Collaborate with the data architect to clarify business requirements and assist with designing and developing data models and databases.
Develop, document and support ETL standards and naming conventions.
Develop templates/documentation, standards and best practices that support quality project deliverables for use by the functional business and technical teams.
Establish best ETL practices within the APEX PeopleSoft / Cognos environment.
Data modeling.
Determine methods for capturing and presenting metadata within Cognos.
Work with Cognos 8 tools: Framework Manager and PowerDesigner. Identify, manage and resolve issues as needed.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
One of the following:
A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related field plus three years of system software programming experience, including one year at the senior system software programmer level in a large scale data processing installation.
A two year degree or approved certification in an IT program plus five or more years of system software programming experience, including one year at the senior system software programmer level in a large scale data processing installation.
Two or more years of Cognos experience in system administration, data administration or report development.
Two or more years of ETL development experience using Ascential or Informatica.
Experience working with PeopleSoft or other ERP system data supporting the human resources, payroll financial or procurement functions.
Experience with data issues related to business intelligence projects.
Experience with Oracle 11g database management system.
Working knowledge of PowerDesigner or other data modeling products.
Ability to design, develop and maintain data and metadata solutions and support standards.
Ability to collaborate and communicate in a positive manner with both business and technical team members to produce results.
