What can you expect as a Graphic Designer with Elastic Path Retail?
Ecommerce stores are ripe for a visual makeover and we want you to be the person who helps define and design the next generation online shopping experience! We have attracted multi-million dollar businesses to improve their online stores - now it's your turn. How could merchandising be displayed more interactively? Could you increase average order sizes with a fresh look at bundling or promotions? How could the checkout experience be improved? This position could be your canvas for your visual creativity. As a Graphic Designer working within the Front-end department team, you will be involved in designing, developing and delivering visual store designs concepts for Elastic Path's customers like Vancouver 2010, Aeroplan, Hockey Canada, Garmin, etc. You will do this through effective team and client interaction, drawing on your experience in UI of ecommerce store design. Once you join our team, you will be accountable for realistic yet challenging responsibilities including:
• Help senior designers define the graphic identity, user interface, & interactive experience for large ecommerce websites • Assist in designing user interfaces and creating UI Specifications • Participate in visual design throughout the product lifecycle, from conceptualization to site launch • Interact with cross-functional teams, including product managers, photographers, senior designers, business analysts and developers to implement designs into the final product • Create marketing collateral for ecommerce websites • Think creatively to conceptualize, articulate and present visual concepts
What does it take to be successful?
• A strong creative portfolio • Expert proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator for the creation of visual application design deliverables • 2+ years of experience creating visual designs and interaction designs for web-applications or consumer-oriented websites • Strong visual design skills (illustrations, icons, layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory, patterns, compelling visual elements) and a strong attention to detail down to the pixel • Skilled in graphic design, color theory, layout and typography for the Web • Understanding of underlying technical concepts
The following skills are not required, but will be considered an asset: • Wireframe and site prototype design • Proficiency in Flash, Microsoft Visio, Dreamweaver • Previous experience in developing the design for market leading eCommerce sites • Good understanding of current web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript, AJAX) and anything else Web 2.0 and beyond • Experience interfacing and communicating directly with clients
