Our Elastic Path Retail division is working with select ecommerce outsourcing partnerships, such as the online store for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic/Paralympic Winter Games, Hudson's Bay Company and Hockey Canada.

What can you expect as a CSS Expert with Elastic Path Retail?

We've got grand plans and want you to be part of it. Ecommerce stores are ripe for a visual and code makeover and we want you to be the person who codes the next generation of online stores! We have attracted multi-million dollar businesses to improve their online stores - now it's your turn. How could the page be loading faster with fewer calls to the server? Could you view the website in iPhone? How would you create the same look for all browsers with less code? This position could be a great platform for your coding creativity.
As a CSS/JavaScript developer working within our front-end department team, you will be involved in coding, developing and delivering online store templates for Elastic Path Retail's customers like Vancouver 2010, Hudson's Bay Company and Hockey Canada. You will be working closely with designers to hand code websites and landing pages based from Photoshop files using CSS.
Once you join our team, you will be accountable for realistic yet challenging responsibilities including:

• Write clean, standards-compliant CSS and JavaScript
• Develop code templates with high standards of compliance via browser testing/validation processes
• Interact with cross-functional teams, including project leaders, product managers, business analysts and developers to implement templates into the final product
• Assist developers in finding the annoying browser bugs and avoid coding with box-model-hack
• Ensure that all technical requirements are congruent with client requirements and expectations

What does it take to be successful?

• A strong portfolio of previous sites MUST be either attached or website links provided for us to consider you a top candidate
• Expert knowledge in hand coding CSS and JavaScript
• Understanding of CSS sprites, YUI Fonts CSS, !important
• Strong knowledge of web standards, CSS-driven layouts, cross-browser/platform issues
• 3+ years of real-world experience creating code for web-applications or consumer-oriented websites
• Strong knowledge of Design/Web development programs such as: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks

The following skills are not required, but will be considered an asset:
• Familiarity with jQuery, AJAX
• Experience with other technologies, such as PHP, Java, Flash, ActionScript
• Previous experience in developing and coding market-leading ecommerce sites
• Knowledge of web and email marketing coding best practices
• Good understanding of current web technologies Web 2.0 and beyond
