What can you expect in the Release Engineer position?

The release engineer will join our seasoned Product Development and Professional Services teams and will be responsible for software development tools, builds and releases. You will design and develop build scripts, deployment procedures, as well as manage, integrate, and enhance source code control and issue tracking systems. Working closely with quality assurance, development and project teams to automate processes and increase efficiency, you'll be working in a very dynamic environment where your energy and ideas will always be valued.

• Work closely with Developers and QA Analysts to manage software releases and environments
• Maintain and enhance source control and issue tracking systems
• Manage source code, build and deployment in development and test environments
• Software delivery including software packaging
• Manage tool selection for release activities
• Automate deployment of development and test environments
• Collect, analyze, and report build-related metrics. Use these metrics to identify areas for process improvement and work with engineers to implement improvements.
• Participate in the development and usage of post-build automated regression tests
• Manage and maintain development tools

What does it take to be successful?

• Computer science degree or equivalent experience
• Expert with source control systems (Subversion), including demonstrable experience with branching, merging, and tagging
• In-depth familiarity with build tools (ANT, Maven)
• Experience with scripting languages
• 4+ years of managing software build and release engineering and / or software configuration management experience
• An understanding of open-source software distribution packaging (example: configure scripts) considered a plus
• Experience using an issue tracking tools, such as JIRA
• Flexibility and adaptability: coping effectively with complexity and change at the enterprise level
