## The Mainframe Capacity & Performance team is responsible for the planning and performance review of the Domestic and International mainframe environments. This position requires ability to effectively solve problems, manage multiple tasks and utilize software tools, programming languages and system commands to support mainframe processing capabilities on a day to day basis. Responsibilities include forecasting usage, researching performance and recommending system upgrade strategies, proactively alerting the appropriate people to the needs of changing requirements for resources.

This position will work closely with several Infrastructure and Operations organizations such as z/OS Systems Engineering, Online/Database Subsystem teams, Production Assurance and Enterprise Command Center to ensure high availability and deliver quality support services. This high-energy, results oriented job requires a balance of strong technical skills and business processes, a sense of urgency & ownership in resolving issues, creativity, work schedule flexibility, adaptability to changing business conditions and a commitment to customer satisfaction

#General Responsibilities:

Ability to design and recommend capacity forecast models and use performance monitoring tools and products.
Expertise in tuning and debugging performance problems for z/OS systems including application workloads.
Perform problem diagnostics and resolution. Contribute to root cause investigation.
Document changes to infrastructure configuration.
Perform BAU activities for z/OS systems such as performance reviews on a day to day basis or as required.
Installation, customization and maintenance of IBM & ISV tools & products related to performance tuning and capacity planning.
Monitor systems performance and tune when appropriate.
Strong knowledge of ITIL processes and procedures
Perform peer review of change events, assessing impacts and risks.
Provide creative solutions and build scenarios utilizing best in class methodology/tools.
Constantly analyze processes and methods, striving for improvement to both systems and the environment.
Train resources up to Skill Level 3 in Performance and Capacity Systems programming.
Develop wellness check scripts, processes and procedures for other support personnel. Develop and communicate IT standards.

## Traits of an Ideal candidate: Should have 6 years (or more) experience in Mainframe Performance and Capacity Planning activities;
Strong documentation and analytical skills with ability to present.
Should have knowledge on various MF license costing and advantages.
Ability to comprehend various z/OS performance magazines and recommend the changes at regular intervals, relevant experience with current technologies.
Expert in the establishment and use of z/OS controls, but not limited to the Workload Manager component of z/OS.
This person should be well versed in storage capacity planning and configuration and should have good familiarity with typical z/OS application performance analysis.
This job will encompass support to variety of z/OS operating system with many IBM as well as ISV products.
Must be proactive, possess professional skills, must be able to be hands on, ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure under pressure; team player; excellent communication skills; technical agility.


# EDUCATION: Diploma or Bachelor's degree (or above)

- 15 years of Minimum Education required
- 6 years (or more) of minimum relevant work experience

SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Level -- Mastered: z/OS, OS/390, JES2, SDSF, TSO/ISPF, JCL, Unix System Services, PARMLIB/PROCLIB customization, IBM utilities, SMP/E.
• Knowledge on specialty engines and measurement of their performance.
• z/OS Performance Analysis using various tools such as IBM's RMF, SMF and subsystem analysis tools.
• Experience in few ISV products used for Performance monitoring and reporting like SAS, MXG, CA-MICS, Strobe and the Omegamon products. Must have done installation, customization and maintenance of IBM or ISV tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills, communications skills, and ability to work as a team member are essential
