Position Summary
Will provide operational and project-related support to end users, IT management and staff. This includes supporting the main offices in New York, Secaucus, and all Regional (Domestic and International locations). This position will be required to support various events that take place throughout the year. This position will be responsible for the implementation and support of new data networks or changes to existing networks. In addition, the technician will work to resolve second level networking problems (Tier II). Responsibilities will include ensuring that the LAN/WAN is monitored and maintained and ensure any problems are reported to the appropriate responsible party. Of primary importance is ensuring that the network(s) are secure, accessible and available at all times.

Major Responsibilities Operational
- Monitors the operation of the network and systems to ensure status of circuits, hardware and software.
- Participates with vendors and service providers during problem analysis/resolution as required.
- Assist in the preparation of forecasts and reports of network traffic, performance and capacity. When appropriate, recommending modifications to the network configurations that reduce costs or improve service.
- Reviews system logs and reports for possible security violations.
- Resolves network problems as second level technical support, working with other departments within IT when necessary.
- Assist in the maintenance of technical specifications, system documentation and operational manuals.
- Identifies and resolves complex network problems utilizing structured troubleshooting methods, techniques and tools.

Network Equipment
- Administers, maintains and documents all enterprise network devices, including: router, switches, firewalls and VPN concentrators.
- Installs new code versions and other features as required.
- Maintain backups of all router, switch, VPN and firewall configurations.

Network Design and Project Management
- Interprets user requests to appropriate internal IT staff and vendors.
- Consults with users, IT management and staff in the design and implementation of new or modified data communications networks.
- Works closely with users to acquire a broad and highly technical knowledge of the business areas functions and applications, the network architecture, hardware environment and departmental procedures and processes.
- Follows up with clients to ensure that service level agreements have been achieved and resolves any outstanding issues.
- Assists the Event & Team Support area as needed.
- Works with senior team members to develop project management skills.

Security
- Update and maintain the corporate firewalls OS and rule-sets.
- Maintain the corporate VPN infrastructure (this includes events, teams, remote offices and other external users)

Other Technologies and Responsibilities
- Assists with enterprise contingency planning
- Assist with event infrastructure planning and preparation.
- Work closely with the Voice Network team to ensure proper operation of converged voice and data networks.
- Participation in on-call rotation required.
- Emergency availability by pager/phone on a 24 x 7 basis.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, approximately 25% of the time.

Required Skills/Knowledge
Required Skills/Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge of layer-2 switching and layer-3 routing using Cisco Nortel Switches and Routers. Certifications: CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) is desirable. Experience with security equipment including: Netscreen and Cisco firewalls and VPN tunnels. Experience with Microsoft Project and Project Server is also required.

Five years prior experience with enterprise network hardware (Cisco and Nortel preferred).
Experience with both Netscreen and Cisco firewalls.
Experience with various VPN technologies.
History of successful troubleshooting, with proven ability to manage multiple, simultaneous customer cases, with timely resolution of problems/issues.
Knowledge of network management practices and systems a plus.
Knowledge of voice services, both traditional circuit switched and VoIP a plus.

Educational Background Required
Four year degree or equivalent industry experience.
