We're looking for the best of the geeks out there to come play with some of the latest and greatest technology: Java/J2EE, Spring, MVC, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX, Velocity, Eclipse RCP, ANT/Maven, JPA, Tomcat, Weblogic, Websphere, Oracle, MySQL, etc. You'll be working with some pretty cool tools in an agile development environment and with smart people who love debating, challenging the status quo, and complex customer requirements.

What can you expect as our newest Solutions Architect?

We've got grand plans and want you to be part of it. The Solutions Architect will bring extensive experience designing multi-tier software solutions for enterprise customers as part of our professional services team. In this role you will work directly with customers, system integrators and/or our own Professional Services teams to identify business requirements, turn those requirements into a detailed, implementable technical architecture and work with developers to deliver the solution.

Once you join our team, you will be accountable for achieving realistic yet challenging goals:
1. Participate in high-level requirements-gathering process with customers to help identify and prioritize business requirements
2. Provide guidance on technical design alternatives and their implications (function, cost, complexity etc.) to select the most appropriate design
3. Convert the high-level requirements into a complete technical architecture that the development team can implement. These designs will specify necessary extensions to existing Elastic Path components and/or APIs, integration points and mechanisms with external systems, database extensions and so forth.
4. Transition the project to the (internal or external) development team, explain the design and remain available to address questions or problems that arise during implementation
5. Assist with pre- and post-sales guidance, time and budget estimates for which you will design and code prototype solutions
6. Be an architectural and design resource for professional service projects, clients and partners (provide technical guidance, evaluate alternatives)
7. Provide occasional internal and external training courses on items such as design patterns, code refactoring, new technologies, efficient coding, etc.
8. Be a strong advocate for the client's technical needs

What kind of background is required to thrive in this position?
• Degree in computer science or equivalent
• Minimum of 10 years relevant experience which includes 5 years experience as a technical architect/lead designing complex, multi-tier applications for mid-size and enterprise companies
• Strategic view across a broad cross-section of technologies with a strong focus on implementation constraints and trade-offs, performance, scalability and maintainability
• Significant experience with Java, databases, web servers, networking, security etc. and designs that combine these
• Experience working directly with customers in service/consulting engagements
• Experience in integrating with ERP (Oracle, SAP) and Content Management systems
• Understand and can apply knowledge of Internet/Intranet technology, ecommerce, enterprise networking and database to infrastructure solutions
• General software experience in a Client-Server environment with practical knowledge of distributed and desktop technologies
• Experience in capacity planning, systems performance analysis and optimization in a distributed client/server environment
• Broad knowledge of advanced software environment monitoring & management tools, performance modeling tools, capacity analysis tools, and other advanced modeling and trending tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to influence and successfully interface with executive leadership
• Experience with software development tools such as Maven, Ant etc.
