Division Sales Manager

Company, a leader in the heat treating and metal finishing industry, seeks a Division Sales Manager for their Kansas City, MO, location. This challenging hands-on position requires a disciplined, self-starting individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.

Emphasis is on customer support, sales and marketing development, and teambuilding. The successful candidate will focus on planning, developing, and implementing strategies for generating revenues and assisting with problem solving. A fundamental understanding of heat treatment and metal finishing will be utilized to provide information, tools, and resources to
improve business effectiveness. This position directly impacts quality, service, productivity and profitability. Position reports to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

Position Requirements:

. BS/BA degree or equivalent job-related experience.
. Sales skills and aptitude such as selling a service, understanding
market potentials, understanding the competition, building and maintaining
partnerships.
. Technical knowledge and expertise such as principles of heat
treating, practical application, equipment functionality.
. Knowledge of financial understanding such as price negotiation,
profit margin, budgeting and managing expenses.
. Leadership skills such as planning and project management, team
development, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
. Travel required.

This position is Salaried Exempt and is Full-time. Salary commensurate with experience.
A physical exam, including substance abuse testing is required.

Essential Functions

1. Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of the services offered thorough understanding of their applications.
2. Perform all sales and marketing activities as directed by management.
3. Establish and maintain customer communication and relations.
4. Seek to expand customer base and expand sales in existing markets.
5. Identify and communicate sales opportunities (in new and existing processes) which arise from existing markets.
6. Identify and communicate opportunities and problems in maintaining customer satisfaction.
7. Generate and follow up sales leads.
8. Provide information to assist in pricing, quoting, and management decisions (background history, competitive circumstances, similar jobs
and/or situations).
9. Provide technical assistance to customers and/or act as a conduit for technical information.
10. Know and analyze the competition.
11. To give guidance and direction to Sales Engineers.
12. Give Performance Reviews to Sales Engineers at your plant location.
13. Assign tasks, delegate responsibilities, and communicate expectations to Sales Engineers
14. Develop a training program for Sales Engineers.
15. Travel to participate in job-related meetings, conventions, training, etc. Such travel will involve overnight stays of one or more nights.

Position pays salary and there usually is some type of profit sharing based on the Kansas City plant as well

Outside sales seeing customers is dominant. Territory varies, depending on where the customers are located. Predominately with 80 mile radius of plant for local + Nebraska. It would be very helpful if the candidate has heat treating, plating, metal finishing, foundry, some kind of steel manufacturing experience. I realize it's a specialty area. A similar background is acceptable.

Currently, there is 1 sales engineer at the Kansas City plant that reports to the Division Sales Manager as well. I can tell you with confidence, that there would be no more than 1 person reporting to this position.
