PC Technician
contract, possibly contract to hire

Summary:
Provides technical system support for personal computers (PC) and associated peripheral equipment.


Responsibilities
Provides technical troubleshooting and repair of PCs and peripherals.
Applies vendor program patches when needed and approved for installation.
Keeps documentation on changes and monthly check vendor's web site for any new updates and make note in tracking software.
Keeps the Technical Services Manager and Local Area Network (LAN) administrators aware of all PC upgrades and the operational/functional status of equipment on the LAN.
Maintains equipment inventory of all PC assets including software.
Provides liaison between IT and all users of PCs. Provides assistance in the resolution of PC operating system problems and malfunctions.
Provide technical service support for PC users. This includes troubleshooting and working with LAN administrators in resolving issues associated with network connectivity, access to applications using the LAN, and the transfer of data across the LAN.
Installs software on PCs, this includes troubleshooting any problems and resolving it.

Keeps abreast of PC operating systems upgrades and technical computer enhancements and their impact on the company.
Assists in the preparation of IT budgets, service agreements, and strategic planning as related to PCs and associated peripheral equipment and software.

Complies with and assists in the development of IT policies and procedures.
Provides technical support services as needed and as instructed by the Technical Services Manager.

Provides accurate and timely resolution to problems and malfunctions.
Provides timely back up and restoration of services after outages.
Maintains accurate records and documentation.
Maintains good relations with user personnel.
Complies with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
College courses emphasizing computer science, or related technical training and a minimum of 1 to 2 years relevant work experience.
Working knowledge of PC operating systems (Windows 3.X and Windows 9X).
Experience in the repair, installation, and setup of personal computers and associated peripherals.
Ability to analyze and solve technical problems.
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships at all levels.
Experience with PC in a LAN environment would be helpful.
