Job Title: Java Developer; Mail Service Technologies

Summary Description:
• The Developer Mail Service Technologies supports the Mail Service technology department in providing high service level for technology, ensures the technical and operational integrity of all information systems supporting the mail service operations.
• Preferably has previous experience with Mail Service Pharmacy Operations; or similar mail order processing for other businesses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintenance and ongoing development of the mail order processing application
• Monitoring, Tuning and day to day administration of mail order processes
• Development of reporting processes for operations, finance and IT
• Database maintenance and development
• Web site development and maintenance.
• Investigates reported program and system production problems and prepares and implements effective solutions.
• Acquires and maintains in-depth knowledge of applications within mail order area.
• Provides assistance in the development of implementation and conversion plans for mail order applications.
• Conducts follow-up testing and monitors fixes and/or enhancements after implementation.
• Keeps management informed of project status through periodic status reporting.

Skills and Abilities:
• 4+ years web development for consumer and/or enterprise applications
• Expertise in Java and SQL Server database technologies.
• Preferably at least 2 years of mail pharmacy or 2 years of retail pharmacy experience; minimally 2 years experience in comparable mail order processing environment.
• Detailed experience working with Java and object oriented development.
• Demonstrated use of advanced techniques such as parallel processing (Multi-Threading), JDBC configurations, garbage collection techniques (heap management), Web services, encryption algorithms, XML Configuration, creating their own Servlet configurations, etc.
• Experienced in advanced HTML development and using Filter configurations for a Servlet.
• Familiar with MVC (Model, View, Controller) techniques, creating and maintaining controllers.
• Working understanding of the Java Message Service.
• The Developer needs to know how to configure Tomcat servlets in sever.xml as well as Context XML configurations.
• Excellent knowledge of how to configure Apache and how to configure Apache to interact with Tomcat using mod_jk and worker.properties configuration.
• Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, architectures and
tools including PHP, JSP/ASP and SOAP.
• Knowledge of using AJAX and controls.
• Detailed experience with Grails/Groovy
