We have an immediate contract to hire opportunity for a SQL Server Database Administrator. This opportunity is with a growing company that offers career growth opportunities and an employee friendly company culture.


Responsibilities:

* Perform day to day database administration tasks including some system monitoring, monitoring backups and restores, proactive database maintenance, capacity estimation, database tuning and application of software patches.
* Respond to and resolve database and storage access issues
* Ensure availability, reliability and scalability of databases to meet development and QA team demands.
* Implement solutions to enhance database performance
* Maintain / develop stored procedures, Views, SQLCMD, BCP, and other server scripts
* Query development / tuning
* Update / enhance existing scripts
* Optimize existing scripts for performance / maintainability
* Troubleshoot database performance and deadlocking issues
* Investigate and propose solutions to data quality / integrity issues
* Develop database specifications and documentation.


Job Requirements:

* 4-6 years of SQL Server with in-depth knowledge of relational database technology
* Experience in database administration and development in SQL Server 2000 /2005
* Experience with full life-cycle software development methodologies.
* Experience with Database Modeling and Modernization of legacy systems.
* 4-6 years of SQL Server T-SQL / Stored Procedures
* Strong experience and understanding of database objects specifically stored procedures, indices, triggers, etc.
* Excellent communication (oral and written) and team work skills
* Ability to work cooperatively with developers, analysts, and project managers
* Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Self-management skills
* Proactively research and recommend database technology improvements
