Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to the IT Manager - Quality Testing Services, this person will be responsible for supervising and directing a team of QA professionals in order to deliver high quality business application solutions. Will set the goals and direction of the team in order to achieve division objectives. Provide focused activities, tasks, and expert mentorship to the team. Through coaching and goal setting, develop associates. Set performance objectives and metrics to measure associate performance. Create and manage team's budget to maintain fiscal responsibility. Stay informed of technical trends and make recommendations for process, tool, or environments as needed. Effectively communicates with the team, the business units, and all levels of management.

Major Areas of Responsibility

-Produce formal Quality Assurance team standards and procedures
-Monitor and update Quality Assurance team standards and procedures in support of continuous process improvement
-Develop and maintain a test strategy
-Create and execute performance, stress, and benchmarking test strategies
-Collaborate with PMO, Businesses Analysis, and Development to ensure that the quality objectives of all projects are met within schedule constraints
-Define and implement defect management process
-Develop and report performance metrics for a software quality assurance team
-Proactively consider test automation needs and improvement possibilities, including required tools
-Coach, mentor, and supervise a team of Quality Assurance professionals
-Ensure that the Quality Assurance team develops and maintains suitable skill sets
-Accountable for developing and managing an operating budget and participating in the annual budgeting process

Preferred Qualifications
-Expertise in the Quality Assurance (Testing) practice
-Advanced understanding of structured development methodology, including waterfall, iterative and agile, and how to integrate QA efforts into those individual methodologies
-Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
-5+years experience supervising a QA team in a software development environment
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and including the ability to influence and lead
-Strong attention to detail with strong documentation and coordination practices
-Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
-Good functional understanding of technology
-Skilled at motivating and mentoring direct reports, working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and accurately performing functions in a timely manner
-Sound insurance industry knowledge; preferably property and casualty insurance
