This is a requisition for a cross application Systems Analyst on the Platform Data Interfaces team. The Cross application SA team is responsible for responding to outstanding open questions posed by Medica and internal UHG IT/Business areas requiring systems analysis expertise, cross application coordination, business communications, and external partner facing review of findings.

Qualifications:
BS degree in computer or business related field or equivalent experience.
8+ years of significant experience in applications systems analysis and/or programming.
Strong knowledge of data structures as they relate to systems; very comfortable reading and analyzing data models (5+ years).
Ability to provide objective, analytical evaluation of staff and their work product.
Effective coach and mentor to management and staff personnel.
Confident in challenging/making difficult decisions related to personnel/business issues.
Strong work ethic, independence and dependability.
Continues to grow professionally.
Able to highlight issues/problems and convey complex thoughts, written and oral, in a clear, concise, timely manner.
The following are specific to the opening in question:

Has well-developed leadership qualities, particularly in the arena of “thought leadership”--the ability to successfully leverage your systems expertise to guide less technically knowledgeable stakeholders in appropriately defining, analyzing and solving problems.
Prior healthcare experience desirable but not required.
Prior exposure to data warehousing desirable but not required.

Primary Responsibilities:
Plans assignments involving large, critical application systems or more than one system.
Assists in developing strategies to solve complex problems in the systems development cycle.
Has good understanding of the business or function for which the application is designed.
Has full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming.
Evaluates progress and results with users and recommends changes in procedures.
May have duties instructing, directing, and checking the work of other applications systems analysis and programming personnel.
Supports the QA function in ensuring overall project quality.
Although not a hands-on technical contributor, must possess sufficiently deep understanding of information technology to sometimes provide input to the technical team in regard to which approaches are best-matched to the systems requirements.

The following are specific to the opening in question:
This is a program-level position, responsible for providing coordinated analysis and direction to multiple projects. The candidate should be comfortable operating in a highly matrixed environment.
This project is extremely data-centric, with little UI or business-oriented functional requirements.
Approximately 25% of this role will involve tactical Project Management responsibilities, such as scheduling reviews, tracking status and maintaining project plans.
The various project stakeholders are geographically dispersed, so the candidate must be very comfortable coordinating distributed teams and facilitating meetings and discussions via conference call.
This position involves some interaction with external partners, so must be comfortable representing your business unit outside the organization, with high professionalism and solid negotiation skills. (Little or no overnight travel required.)
