We are seeking a Senior Supervising Engineer NERC to join the staff at our Newark, Delaware or Washington, DC location. Senior Supervising Engineer NERC provides leadership, direction and professional development to a staff of engineers and technical support personnel in the planning, developing, organizing, coordinating and executing of a variety of engineering project/activities in the area of service connections and facility relocations. Performs liaison with other departments, consultants and contractors to establish or review overall plans, designs and objectives. Represents the Company on industry/external working groups, etc. Provides technical guidance, engineering/technical expertise and training to ensure professional development of staff. Maintains liaison with other company, governmental, utility and industry agencies. Provides expert testimony, as required. Performs leadership duties of a first-line supervisor to make optimum utilization of employees, equipment, and material. Coordinates work between organizational segments. Communicates Company policies and practices. Promotes two-way communications with employees and resolves employee concerns using appropriate Corporate resources, if necessary. Assigns work. Ensures appropriate training for subordinates is accomplished. Explains work procedures and solves work problems. Familiarizes employees with Company policies and procedures. Authorizes overtime. Controls quality, quantity and promptness of work performed as measured against accepted standards. Administers disciplinary measures. Recommends improvements and modifications in organization, complement, procedures, policies, standards, specifications, methods, processes, and equipment within area of supervision. Conducts and completes fair and accurate Performance Appraisals at regularly scheduled times to identify subordinate strengths and weaknesses and discuss career goals. Provides accurate, timely and constructive performance feedback in order to help others improve and succeed. Seeks opportunities to provide appropriate recognition. Conducts coaching in a positive and productive manner. Counsels employees concerning work problems and productivity Prepares and monitors budget or provides budget information.

Required:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field.
• Experience demonstrating skill overseeing and/or participating in the development of engineering standards related to Wide Area Networks (WANs), LANs, Network Security, and Data Network Architecture & Design in either an industrial or electric utility environment.
• Experience demonstrating skill designing, engineering and implementing large private, wide area network (WAN) infrastructure. Includes experience delivering a wide range of connectivity solutions such as wireless, copper, and/or fiber optic.
• Experience demonstrating skill applying Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet technologies.
• Experience demonstrating skill designing IT solutions from scratch for a wide range of custom industrial applications.
• Experience demonstrating skill evaluating the operational performance of in-service data networks.
• Experience demonstrating skill designing, configuring and securing private data networks. Includes extensive knowledge of data network design principles.
• Knowledge of the methods and mechanisms necessary for managing quality of service, resource control, service level agreements and security policies for a network.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP principles, Cisco Routers and Switched Networks.
• Knowledge of network protocols/architecture including Boarder Gateway Protocol (BGP), Quality of Service/Class of Service (QoS/CoS), Multicast, Network Address Translation (NAT) solutions, Internet Protocol Security (IPSec), metro Ethernet, and/or switched architectures.
• Experience demonstrating skill applying knowledge of Industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, NESC, NEMA).
• Experience demonstrating skill applying and configuring firewalls, switches, routers and other equipment from vendors (e.g. Alcatel Lucent, Cisco, Ruggedcomm, Garrettcom & Cisco).
• Experience demonstrating skill communicating, orally and in writing, with various individuals such as all levels of senior management, engineering, operations, and external customers to include making formal presentations (e.g., presenting designs and project support documentation).
• Experience demonstrating skill managing engineering projects/activities or serving as a lead for an engineering project team. Includes experience working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
• Experience demonstrating skill building relationships with individuals internal and external to the organization.
• Experience demonstrating skill promoting and ensuring a safe work environment and compliance with Federal, state, local and company regulations (for example, OSHA, Sarbanes-Oxley).
• Experience demonstrating skill leading and/or directing others.
• Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation and e-mail software.
• Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, underground and in noisy and dirty environments.
• Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and Company regulations.
• Ability and willingness to work extended hours and non-standard work hours on an emergency basis.
• Ability and willingness to travel to various locations and work sites.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
• Must successfully pass the First Line Supervisory Assessment.
• This position is a NERC Regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on the incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC compliance training.

Preferred:
• Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Management.
• Professional Engineering license.
• Possesses an IT Certification such as: Security+, CCIE, CCNA, or Linux+.
• Experience demonstrating skill overseeing/participating in the development of engineering standards in an industrial environment.
• Knowledge of NERC CIP Standards and their impact on electric system operations.
• Experience demonstrating skill applying SONET, TDM, Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technologies.
• Experience demonstrating skill supervising others to include monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals, coaching and counseling employees.
• Experience demonstrating skill providing leadership, direction and professional development to a staff of engineers and technical support personnel in the planning, developing, organizing, coordinating and executing of a variety of engineering projects/activities or environmental issues/programs.
• Experience demonstrating skill representing a company on industry/external issues (for example, providing expert testimony, participating in industry/organizational committees).
• Experience demonstrating skill assisting in the development and/or monitoring an operating and/or capital budget.
• Experience demonstrating skill developing and conducting formal presentations.
• Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, AutoCad, Microstation, Visio).
• Experience demonstrating skill using WMIS and/or SAP.
