Primary Responsibilities: Coordinate, administer and support activities related to data planning, data recovery and development and related projects, including all types of IT business architects as well as IT technical architects Works with less structured, more complex issues Serves as a resource to others Evaluation of new operating systems, patch releases, infrastructure related tools, VMWare and virtualization technologies Evaluation of new hardware environments, including Blades, Quad Core, and other x86/AMD64 platforms Completion of operational readiness activities, which include standards creation and documentation. Also included is the communication and collaboration of the standards across the different departments within Windows Server Platform Services Consultation and collaboration on large scale initiatives, solution design, process engineering and proof of concepts Directly interfaces with vendors (sales and engineering) for software/hardware evaluation Organize vendor demos, road maps and technology overviews 3rd level server support for on call activities Mentoring and teaching of other Windows Server Platform Services team members Qualifications: Demonstrated systems engineering experience is required Systems engineering is defined as experience with various technologies in both a supporting role as well as in a design role Experience with various Hardware and Software components, including but not limited to: Intel/AMD 32/64 bit environments SAN Storage, including HBA configuration, LUN provisioning Clustering, Veritas and Microsoft VMWare ESX Server 2.5.x and 3.x Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 HP ProLiant line of servers Active Directory Citrix VBScript Linux experience is desired Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in an engineering role Detailed Technical Documentation experience is required. Must be able to use templates, styles and other features of Microsoft Word Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Visio for detailed solution design Ability to present findings in a clear, articulate manner to senior leadership as well as line level staff Ability to work as a lead in projects and technical tasks
