THE ROLE

This role is within the Information Services Division (ISD) of DOP. ISD provides information-technology services not only to the department itself, but to state government as a whole.

For this critical and innovative role, the Department of Personnel is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader. To be successful in this role requires a strong supervisory background and hands-on technical expertise in a network environment.

In this role you will supervise staff providing Network and Desktop Support; serve as the agency's expert for network operations and infrastructure; manage network related information technology projects, development and documentation of business/project plans, decision packages, and risk assessment/mitigation strategies; and provide recommendations on overall architecture and design for existing and future computer infrastructure.

In support of DOP's technology mission, you'll have opportunities to network with other professionals while representing the department on state-wide technical projects and committees.

You'll perform/guide others in the setup, configuration, maintenance and management of network blade servers, storage area networks, Cisco-based network devices, and farm management; oversee network performance monitoring, management and optimization in an enterprise environment using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM); and establish and maintain network firewalls, conduct traffic analysis; provide enterprise SharePoint management; and as the Incident Response First Responder in an enterprise environment, apply Risk Management practices at all levels to ensure issues are resolved timely, decisively, and
accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED
This role requires a resource with supervisory, technical and project management experience in enterprise network operations and maintenance across multiple platforms.
• A minimum of five years recent (within the last 7 years) experience as a manager or project manager leading a team of information technology (IT) professionals that included 3 years as a supervisor.
• Work history that demonstrates effective management of network projects to ensure completion within defined scope, schedule, and budget, and information technology roles in which you demonstrated effective change management, risk assessment, and quality assurance;
• Demonstrated effective communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and understand and convey instructions;
• Possess a valid Washington State driver's license to operate a state vehicle or use a personal vehicle when a state vehicle is not available.

The successful candidate will also have recent (within the past 5 years) demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience configuring, managing, and implementing IT industry best practices; supporting mission-critical technology solutions within a complex IT applications environment; configuring and troubleshooting managed networking devices including routers, switches and firewall solutions; performing firewall configuration, management, and monitoring; configuring, managing, and maintaining network monitoring and health tools and automated application delivery; performing automation development using standard scripting/programming tools for enterprise level maintenance, and applying risk management practices at all levels of problem solving.

Highly desired certifications/experience in addition to the required qualifications:
• A four year degree in computer science or related computer studies;
• SharePoint configuration, management, administration, and maintenance;
• Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and Altirus imaging solutions in an enterprise environment;
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) in Windows 2003 technologies;
• Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), ISA server and SharePoint certification specialties;
• Cisco CCNA or CCIE certified;
• 1+ year's experience applying systems technology best practices such as IT service and support best practices (ITIL/SOA/SSAS) or network and desktop architecture standards (NASCIO).
