SUMMARY:
The Director of RF Engineering will be responsible for the overall quality of the Radio Frequency (RF) design, site commissioning, system performance and testing and sales support of the Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) team. . The incumbent will process technical competency in all RF engineering disciplines including network planning, link budget analysis, propagation analysis, frequency/capacity planning, drive test analysis, network optimization, network acceptance, network performance and in-building design. The Director of RF Engineering will have day-to-day interactions with senior management, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and customers. The incumbent will lead and mentor to the RF Engineering team and will be the subject matter expert to the company as a whole. The Director of RF Engineering will be the product specialist and innovator who will be responsible for evaluating and introducing emerging and novel products or techniques for use with existing assets. This position will act as the primary contact at American Tower Corporation in obtaining customer network acceptance for DAS.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Lead, develop and mentor RF Engineers and technical team members including continuous development of RF expertise.
• Develop standard RF design criteria and verify the adherence to design guidelines for all projects.
• Responsible for the RF component of a customer site license order preparation; including equipment vendor selection, DAS network RF design to meet the coverage and quality criteria, DAS network deployment and RF acceptance.
• Manage outside resources and contractors in performance of drive testing and system optimization.
• Plan optimization and CW test drive routes and coordinate with customers for clear channels.
• Provide support to field operations in troubleshooting RF related issues such as interference, imbalance, or DAS parameter changes.
• Ensure continual optimal system performance of deployed system.
• Perform and coordinate ongoing system testing, test analysis, test reports and recommendation reports for system changes and upgrades to ensure the quality of our DAS networks.
• Prepare reports and analysis as required and ensure delivery of a quality system to customers.
• Evaluate and develop solutions that expand the use of DAS product, assets and infrastructure.
• Introduce new and novel techniques or products surrounding the DAS product line.
• Assist the Business Development team (sales) with market penetration strategies and provide support for proposals and technical presentations to current and prospective customers.
• Review technical exhibits and performance metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) associated with contracts.
• Provide custom design consulting and services associated with special projects within the group.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directs, supervises, and manages the performance of: RF Technician(s) and Senior RF Technician(s).
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
• Detail oriented ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to prepare and professionally present analysis reports
• Excellent proficiency with Windows-based computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer
• Expertise in using generally accepted RF planning, optimization Knowledge of RF propagation/antenna design required
• tools and software.
• Knowledge of all state-of the-art wireless technologies
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Four (4) year Engineering degree granted by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university program
• Ten (10)+ years RF and System Performance Engineering experience
• Five (5)+ years management experience with a wireless service provider
• Experience in the design and optimization of CDMA/GSM/UMTS networks
• In-building design and optimization experience required
• Experience in new market launch (turn-key planning, design, build and optimization) of macro PCS/Cellular or similar systems preferred
• Outdoor DAS experience strongly preferred
• Must have experience managing engineering professionals
ENVIRONMENT:
Approximately 70% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Approximately 30-35% travel will be required in support of the positions responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
