We are looking to fill 3 months contract-to-hire position of Lead Monitoring DBA located in Mendota Heights, MN.

Job Description:
* Track issues and report status to management.
* Implement monitoring DBA policy and procedures.
* Improve monitoring DBA team*s policy and procedures.
* Analyze and implement monitoring tools for monitoring DBA team.
* Practice and enforce issue identification, initial diagnosis, escalation and tracking of production issues.
* Monitor and trouble shoot production mission critical database environments and replication environment.
* Provide nightly coverage when needed.
* Proactively recognize performance issues as they occur and know when to escalate the issue to team members.
* Utilize Idera diagnostic manager and other tools for real time server monitoring.
* Mentor and lead team members to resolve performance issues and follow up and provide feedback on issue resolutions.
* Monitor alert notification emails.
* Monitor performance impact of all database patches and service packs.
* Monitor clustered SQL Server Environment.
* Monitor mirroring and log shipping.
* Monitor replication.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Mentoring DBA.

Qualifications:
* BSCS or MS degree in computer science or related field, 10 or more years of relevant industry experience.
* 5 or more years of database administration/design experience with RDBMS.
* 5 years experience with MS SQL Server 7.0, MS SQL Server 2000, MS SQL Server 2005.
* 2-3 year experience with monitoring and troubleshooting mission critical database and replication environment.
* Experience with one or more popular SQL Server monitoring tools.
* Experience with additional RDBMS is plus.
* Experience with MS SQL Server backup and recovery techniques in a VLDB environment.
* Proven experience in maintenance of SQL Server in VLDB environment.
* Proven experience using Transact SQL, Stored Procedure and UDF.
* Experience with MS SQL Server DTS and SSIS.
* Familiarity with SQL Server replication services. Familiarity with SQL Server clustered environment.
* Prefer experience with data warehouses, including experience with MS SQL OLAP services.
* Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
* Demonstrated experience in tuning database and its objects. Understanding of databases indexes and internal operations.
* Understanding of database design practices, including database normalization concepts.
* Prefer background in Microsoft networking.
* Proven ability to work with in a team environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
